Smile All Japanese Cars - Moroso - 6/21/06

Hey Guys,

The guys finally had a decent night out and decided to take the Si to moroso for some shakedown runs.

The Car was taken as-is to give it some runs to work out any bugs in the system.

The car was kept at Low Boost/Street Tires (40psi)

the car delivered a 13.9@106.

The Boost Controller Came alittle loose so the guys decided not to go into higher range for now until they could lock the Controller in tightly and maybe get different tires on the car. pics and videos should be up shortly.

Yea it does seem slow, I've seen people run 14.3 ¼ mile with only bolt ons like instake, header and exhaust.

First of all it was low boost.. I believe their highest boost was @ 7 lbs in which it made more than 300... And 2 106 is easilly low 13's high 12's...

So you're saying that it was a bad driver? And really, whats the lowest boost you have ever seen a wastegate run? Lowest I have every seen was 4.5 psi (and nothing usually comes that low unless you order it that way).

3-7 psi is a big difference on a 60-1... I ran a t70(which is a bit bigger) and made 20whp on each lb till 20psi... BTW the lowest I've seen is 3lbs...

Im not saying it was a bad driver, I would just like to see the 60's and 1/8 #'s... He could've been spining alot..

98+8= 106... 8mph makes a big difference... For example, I hit a 15.2 at 92, in this case 6 mph got him 1.1sec faster than me... Of course it doesn't always work this way but it is kinda of a guide...

Well that said his launch off the line must have sucked really bad. I would think the Civic with a turbo could be running high 12’s easy.

4psi is the low setting on very high pressured street tires

there is always next week to raise the boost up and hopefully maybe deflate the tires a bit or get some DRs, we'll see what the plan is.

the street tires will have big problems slipping off the line.... it needs some slicks.

14.1 @ 98 means the driver is great at launching and has no traction issues and will romp on you for the first 1/8th mile or so

13.9 @ 106 means the driver is having crazy traction issues and after the first 1/8th mile the car once it grabs pavement will fly by the other Civic.

just called.
listen to all talking about the 14.1 time
it was 75 outside in the north.
the guy powershifted
the guy had his tire pressure at below 20 psi...
his 60' was like 2.1
another person ran 14.1 with a 60' of like 1.9..call it 2with drag radials intake, header and exhaust....

South florida temp last night was atleast 88 and humid as hell
all jap tire pressure was 40 psi (street tires i was told)...i know they have a set of falken azenis on hfp 18s...don't know if they used that...regardless 40psi is shitty for a drag race.
boost was set at 4psi
stock cat still in place
stock exhaust in place
60' was 2.4
trap was 107mph
1/4 was 13.9

removal of cat + addition of catback exhaust = more power = higher trap = lower time

now tell me... with drag radials OR deflated tires of a lower psi....will u not drop ur 60'
by a lot? thus increasing trap + reducing 1/4 time?

boost was @ 4psi....regularly it's at 7psi... that makes for an even bigger drop in time.

i say that car hit 12s easilly with a lower 60' and better tires/tire pressure with 7psi....and low 13s by just improving the 60' with 4psi setting and better tire pressure.

who would disagree? who has more to add?
