Obviously the 225's are going to be better! Thats a wider tire! Im going to be running 245 on a set of 16x7 inch wheel. These will be for drag use only and I have to wait on coilovers cause Im gonna raise it up a tad so they'll fit. In your case, you should put a 225 on that 17!

check and see what size drag radials are available. Im pretty sure there is a 225 fora 17x7 tho.

And yeah 245 is the widest you can go on a 16x7 inch wheel

HHmm...for ralley racing I used 225/40/18 tires dropped on Tein S tech 1.5 all around. The tires are Yoko Prada spec2 and they handled really nice on the track.

What do you guys think would be a good set up for me 16 or 17" slipstreams on those nitto's? What tire size would be optimal?

16x8? I dont think this is a popular wheel or a wheel at all. I think all 16 are max 16x7 but I could be wrong

Two things to consider is that you will have less gear and more weight with the wider and taller tire. In my opinion you would want to put the least tire you could get away with on the car.

Not really sure what you mean by less gear and more weight , and how would i go along finding out what is the least tire i can get away with ? Would a 16"wheel be fine or should i stick to 17"
Rota slip stream 16" weighs at 14lbs....

very nice. I have nothing but good things to say about Nitto tires including DR's. I would recommend this route.

Get the 16''. It has less rotating mass and you'll get a faster acceleration.

I had some falken 615's 225/50/16 mounted on rsx rims lost mph top end to tall of a tire. My best 60 foot is a 2.15 on stock tires im going to get the mickey thompson 205/40/17's it drops the tire dia for more gear and is a great soft compound its called the street radial.

I went 14.18@97 mph with 194hp to the wheels on stock tires :)

I got 215hp now so 13s will be cake I will go 13s on stock tires lol

This is a must for 60's :P
