Rota slip stream 16" weighs at 14lbs....
This thread is turning out to be one of the most serious drag racing threads on this board, especially with Matauz, who seems on point, weighing in.

What I mean by less gear is that a smaller overall diameter tire will result in a numerically higher gear ratio. This i what is commonly referred to as more gear. The car will get higher in the revs faster with more gear. In most manual transmission cars you want as much gear as you can run to get through the traps in 4th. For what it is worth, most quick manual transmission 4th gen camaros and firebirds run 5:13 rear gears with a 28" tall tire. Since we cannot cheaply change our gears, it makes sense to me to put the smallest tire with the most traction on the car.

You would go along finding out what tire is best with an educated guess and testing. I would run the smallest possible rim so that you have the most sidewall. A 225 tire is the same diameter on any size rim. So if you run it on a 16" rim, you have that much more sidewall offering that much more straightline traction.

A bigger tire is heavier. There is a rumor that rotating weight magnifies something like 4 times when it is rotating weight. From this, evrey pound of tire, rim, brake rotor, axle, and driveshaft should be taken seriously.

On our cars at their current naturally aspirated speeds, every 100 pound is worth roughly a tenth of a second in the quarter mile.

This is a must for 60's :P

and this is on stock tires......id suggest against this on those. You do know street tires are made to NOT heat up.....by doing a burnout all your doing is wasting miles off the life of your tires.....

^ I learned something new today..

so heat doesn't affect drag tires as much as they affect street tires?

what I mean is.. do drag tires burn less rubber, doing burnouts, than street tires?

First Im not worried about wearing out my tires lol I will just buy some more. Second I was pulling 2.2 60's all day until I started doing the full out burnouts then hitting the 2.1's on stock tires. I have heard this so many times before that it doesnt do anything but I disagree. Any car with crappy radials doing good times is doing a burnout are they not ;P? In my opinion it helped my 60 foot so I will keep doing it and my results show it :)

to a point, but at the same time another factor is that the concrete on the burnout box will wear your tires more as well.

So I'm going with 2 16" 14lb rotas, and not completly sure which nitto's to get the 555r's? Or the NT01's

NT01's look like a nice serious tire
245/50/16 is only size I saw available on discount tire website is that good size? Any other site or would another tire size be much more optimal

^^^^ heard that heating up stockies is pointless so I asked a Honda tech who has a 3 fully built race cars blabla point is he's been racing for over 30years street and track so I thought his answer on that idea should count LOL he said any tire creating friction on the road heating up should make some improvment opposed to not warming up before a run

Enough of an answer for me lawl so I warm my stockies up before a run
