paddle shifter vs manual for auto x

Would a Honda Fit with paddle shifters or a Fit with a manual be better for auto x or circuit racing? Just out of curiosity.

Manual. My buddy has a fit with paddle shifters and I swear all the car does is get louder when he down shifts.

The only cars I'd consider autocrossing or tracking regularly that have true automatic transmissions would be the C5 and C6 Corvette (the 2007+ C6's automatic in particular is awesome and makes me not hate that type of trans) I'd also add in the 3rd generation Camaro as they have the Turbo 400 trans from the factory... Very robust unit.

IF, I had to do something without 8 cylinders, the Solstice GXP with the automatic is just as capable and as fast as the manual.

Lastly, if money were no object, the 911 Turbo with the Tiptronic would be tops. 0-60 in 3.4seconds just by standing on the fun pedal... Amazing!!!

Back on task... Honda manual transmissions (with the exception of the K-series 6 speed) are much more robust than their automatic counterparts. FWIW... Despite the wishes of my soon-to-be-ex-wife (who hated manuals) I would not have bought my new Civic with an automatic for longevity reasons alone, doing so even above performance reasons. And no, that's not a reason why I'm divorcing.
