For those of you who run 14.9-15.2 BONE STOCK...

What am I doing wrong? I'm an experienced driver and my best run last night was 15.373 @ 93.14 mph. Launches definitely got better through the day, leaving at around 4k. Granted, temperatures were in the low 80's and there was a 10-15mph headwind almost all day long... so that may have some play.

Are you guys with the super low ET's stock powershifting? I can't imagine that I'm shifting all that badly, not enough to keep me in the 15.3's anyways. Please help!

What are your 60 foots?
Are your shifts quick enough to keep the car in vtec then entire run?

That headwind had to hurt your mph.

Do you have all season tires? Was it humid out? How many ft. above sea level is the track? 60' times? Track conditions....ETC all play a roll in what you run.

Oh trust me I know that. I have the stock Michelin Pilot Summers worn down a bit, humidity was low (30-40% all day). ~ 1200ft above sea level. I'll get 60's posted later.

my first run at the track was a 15.3 and i believe i launched around 4000 rpm. i still felt the car was bogging once it caught traction so i started launching at around 5000 rpm. and yes i powershifted every run. my best time was 14.893. just work on your launches!

Ok, I did a little analysis on my best two times. Here's the runs:

Run 1/ Run 2:
60': 2.439/2.373
330':6.612/6/583
1/8et:10.037/10.012
1/8mph: 72.94/73.05
1000': 12.932/12.933
1/4: 15.373/ 15.390
1/4mph: 93.14/ 92.50

So I started better on run 2, but made up some big round between 330 and 1000'. What I took from the track this time around was to shift just after 8k.

Now about powershifting. I was just driving around for a few not hitting V-tech trying it. I should hear a bit of a jump in RPM between shifts, obviously a smaller jump the quicker I'm shifting right? I just want to get the motion down before I try this at Redline and such.

Based on what I've been seeing around the board, 93mph seems a bit high fro a 15.37 run... so where should I be in regards to that 60'?

To answer your question about powershifting, yes you will hear a bump in the revs, as you are not letting off of the gas. I'm sorry this sounds so novice when I explain it, but simply keep it floored, push the clutch, shift, release the clutch. It should be 1 motion, during which the revs must rise because you have not lifted throttle.

Drag racing on our level is all about 60 foot and shifting.

Another thing to mention, and something which I've wanted to talk to other Si owners about, is how different the car performs when it is at different temperatures. See how one of your runs is.06 of a second faster in the 60'. This should really show up in the overall e.t.--at least .1 faster--but that run was actually slower. How is this possible? It's either driver shifting inconsistently, or its the computer not putting in as much fuel and timing due to a cooler car.

I worry about this because a cool motor always runs better than a hot motor, but if Honda has us only getting so much timing on a cool motor, this whole enterprise is an uphill battle.

I say all of this because I used to beat the living hell out of my 2000 camaro, which was the 1st "cam only" Ls1 in the 10s, when the motor was as cold as possible. The throttle body and intake manifold spacers we put on our cars serve this purpose, but nothing, naturally aspirated at least, substitutes for a cool head and block.

it is NOT possible to keep the car in VTEC the entire time of the run, unless you have the reflashed and launch over 4.5k.

try launching at different RPM. every car is different, so launching at the same RPM that other drivers launch at might not work for you.

btw, head wind always put an extra .3 seconds on my time slip.

Yea, our cars launch way better @ 3-3.5k than they do @ 4-4.5k... it sucks

Look at these videos and rethink what you say. This civic doesn't have reflash.

1200ft above sea level, tires worn out, head wind, warm day, prolly some wheel hop and no power shifting all causing the times you reflected.
