Longer gears are better for turbo. That's one positive aspect of it.

We get it FUXX, you are the Oh so great smart one who figured it all out. Cut the hating. This thread is not about ppl wishing they had the Si, it's about discussing the R18 tranny so lets leave it at that.

I don't mind how the tranny is laid out. i think 1st is short enough and 5th should be geared longer for better fuel economy... I like the fact that you only gotta shift once to get to 100km/h, it makes it more practical. It's a good compromise between performance and practicality. Ideally, i would like a more performance oriented 5th gear and a very fuel efficient 6th. I mean, some entry level compacts such as the Nissan Versa come equipped with a standard 6speed manual tranny, why not Honda?

I'm curious, why do you guys want a 6th gear? My LX is at the prefect RPMs in 5th gear.

because the Auto is gear different than the manual R18.

For example doing 70mph on the auto your rpms will be at 2,500 and on the manual they will be at 3k.

I noticed that when I switched to manual tranny when I traded in my R18 auto for the manual I have now...which I why I said 5th is a little too "sporty" to be convenient

I actually like our gearing. It will be great for boost. I just wish we could rev to 7600.

I took my car out to the mountains and realized that the gearing is pretty decent for roads that are over 100kms a hour.
The speed limit on the mountain roads were 100kms, and i enoyed keeping it in 3rd gear for the curves, then using 4th on the straights. Worked out pretty good.
Got passed by a VR6 and it looked like i was standing still there. But all in all had fun.
