Drift AutoX
Hi guys,
I was wondering if I use couple of drift in autox. My question is, since our car is FWD, it tends to be understeer and I got to pull the e-brake to make the tail slide. By then, I will lose so much power and sometime the e-brake cannot slide the tail enough which put me still on understeer. I notice with RWD cars that you just can step on the gas to make your tail slide. With enough speed, you can turn the steering wheel suddenly with bigger angle to make the tail slide then you need to turn the wheel the other way around to make it drift. Does that apply to FWD cars? On track, I tend to use more grip instead of drift on the corners. I'm very interested to learn how to drift FWD cars esp. our 8th gen civic. Hopefully this thread does not violate the rules because I want to try this on autoX first. Please help. Thanks |

It is actually very easy to E-Brake our cars. Mine go like this.
1)Prep for corner entry 2)Yank e-brake 3)Pop clutch, to get the front tires spinning 4)Feather off of E-Brake, and Steer out of the slide. I wouldnt call this drifting though, it is simply e-braking and works best whne performing 90 deg or better turns. |

If you want to "put on a show" and finish last, then go for it as described in the second post. If you actually want to win your class, drifting (either FWD or RWD) is not the fastest way around a course. Running the correct line and driving according to the car strengths/weaknesses will win out every time, especially against FWD "drifting".
What you can do is at least go out and get a better alignment to help tune out some of the understeer. Then drive to try and tune some more of that out using trailbraking and throttle lift techniques. 06blaksi, nice gif. ![]() |

LOL... Nice gif, dude...
Yeah, I want to try that not for time attack but for fun and show off a bit. At least I would be able to handle my car when I got slip on the snow or for emergency. 20strong: that technique does not show the sliding like RWD cars? I think I got to tighten up my e-brake because it does not lock as tight as Nissan Versa (tried once on rental car). |
