Best tires for Auto-x!!! please help!

It's almost time and I need new tires! Last year was my first time auto-x, and I'm hooked...only went to one though! So this year I'm on it! I just need a little more grip, I was just wondering...I'm going with Falken Azeni's RT-615's what's the difference between 215 and 225's and 40/45???? I have 17's can anyone help?

The Falken 615's are great for the money.
Not so good in the rain if you use them as everyday tires.

I'd go with the 225's if they'll fit your rims.
I use the 225/45/17 on the stock Si rims.
Good luck.

When I was looking for autocross tires last year I couldn't find RT615s so I bought the RE0R1s in 225/45/17...and love them; Tire Rack had them on sale and I think it was cheaper then the 615s.

i would go with 225 or larger... hankook ventus rs2... azenis rt615... bridgestone RE01R...

my ultimate pick would be the bridgestones but they will cost u more and have less life... if u are going for cost, i would go for the hankook ventus rs2...

it looks like the price on the ventus rs2's went up (153 a tire):
Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct

the azenis are priced at 117 a tire
Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct

and the RE01R's are at 159 a tire
Currently Available Prices and Sizes

if u dont mind spending more, i would go with the RE01R's. i have had the azenis and the RE01R's are a huge upgrade from them... good luck.

I have RT615's for auto-x and they stick pretty well.

I'll probably get RE01R's next

RE-01R's are the most popular at this point, probably having a lot to do with Bridgestone contingency. Some are trying out the new Toyo R1R, but despite the contingency offering there not too many seem happy with the results.

The next possible ST* "tire to have" looks to be the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1. Not a ton of availability at the moment, but all sizes should be available by the end of April. Should be another top tire to consider.

As for myself, I went with the Bridestone RE-01R due to their significant support of the sport last year, contingency, and the fact that it's a known quantity at this point. In 245/40/17 though of course.

FYI, a test by Tire Rack

The contenders:

-> Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R
-> Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07
-> BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD
-> Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1

The Azenis make a fun daily tire, but don't expect an extremely long life out of them. I would say with regular driving with occasional aggressive cornering you could expect roughly 15k miles or so. Just guessing though, mine were only used to autocross, along with driving to said events. But in doing so they lasted me two seasons.
