Ran it at the track

Well guys i just raced my car at the track for the first time ever. Get this, the weather down here in texas is HOT! It was 87 at around 12 midnight, my first run was a 16.5 I was like what the *U*K. I then took out air from the tires, I had 40 psi on that run and spinned the wheels in all of first and most of second. Lowered them to 20 psi, when back and launched at 4K, ran a 15.6 I was even more mad, I had my stock air filter but opened the box, ran it again launched at 5,500 and took off as i powershifted all the gears. Ran a 15.5 then a 15.4 doing the same thing. Then raced a couple more times without powershifting and ran a 15.7 At the end of the night an 05 RSX Type S called me out so i told, "lets go Kid" I ran a 15.3 aginst him but he beat me like by the front bumper only, we went again and i ran a 15.3 again but I BEAT HIM by half a car he ran a 15.2 but i beat him off the line with my .602 light. So that was my first time at the track with a manual car, pretty good fot being stock, will go there again when it get to like 50 degrees to get my high 14 slip.

Those are some pretty nice times! What tires do you have? What track did you run at? Describe your launch technique!

I have the regular all season tires and ran it at the Laredo International Raceway. (kinds sucks) got on the stage lights and as soon as i saw the first yellow light come on, i floored it (clutch in neutral) second light came out and i simply let go of the clutch as fast as possible as i spinned to 5k then some traction started and powershifted all the gears. SO my best was a 15.3 beating an 05 Type S. I think i should do better in winter, it was 87 when i raced.

Try not spinning the tires. It is pointless and actually slow. To launch, you want to get the wheels close to spinning, but you dont want them to spin. This way you get the most power to the pavement.

nice you improved your times by 1 second that night! i say your good to go. i heard that power shifting is not a good thing to do, it can damage the car. or is it not that big of a deal?

It is bad and if you plan to keep your car for 5+ years then you shouldnt do it but im not doing it all the time just that track night and my tires didnt spin that much, just the regular. I have to take off at 5,500, if i dont then im going to run a slower time and thats what that other guy takes off at when he gets his 14.2 slip.

So its like 8 months later after i created this post and today was my second time at the track. As i promised in my first post, i did run a 14.8 once and all my other runs were 15.0-15.2. Yes it was also 52 degrees and now i have the injen cai. I did awsome, I think, but my tires were just spinning too much and i had them at 20 psi and i was launching at around 4.5K and powershifting 3rd and 4th. Im sleepy so ill try to post the slip tomorrow.

Actually on my 14.8 run i hit 94.8mph and a near perfect reaction of .560 with 2.3 60ft.

All other runs were from 92-94mph but with .800 reaction
