Smile Raced a Cobalt S/C

well guys, i just got back from racing a 2006 cobalt ss supercharged. (closed road, some old private air strip that was open for the day) Anyways, first we went from a dig, LSD helped me out, and i pulled maybe a car on him. Shifting into second gear my tires broke loose for a few seconds (20 degrees out, tires were slipping) and we were even. About the top of second gear he started to pull on me. We raced up to 130 mph and he had pulled about a car and a half on me.

I was pretty impressed that i kept up that close. The car is real quick and i must say i kinda like the look of them. THE WHINE was AWSOME. when we were neck and neck, that blower was right in my ear and i just smiled.

Anyways, for all those wondering how si's match up with s/c cobalts, its a pretty good race with the edge to the cobalt, pulling 1-2 cars. BTW I have an aem intake. Also took him from a 30mph or so roll. Same result, got me by about 1.5-2 cars.

I dont know if it will make a difference, but i havent cleaned my intake for about 6,000 miles. Im gonna clean it, and then try to run the guy again. Im hoping cleaning the filter might increase flow or something and maybe help me out a little. I think with a race header or maybe exhaust i could keep up with him.

After i clean out the filter im gonna run him again and try to get a video of it. If anyone wants i can try to post it up. =]

sorry for the long post, just trying to let some of you guys know the result.
Theyre pretty quick and sound great.

Happy Holidays everybody

yeah, i had ordered a 3" turbo mafia exhaust, but you guys now how that story ends.
i dont think im doing anything else for a while except exhaust because im saving for boost.

Im in the process of saving for a turbo kit. 10psi tune. 3" exhaust. aiming for 280whp.
should deffinately get him then, lol.

so ill have to be content with where i am now until i get the kit sometime next year.
im not gonna pump money into header, reflash, etc when its just gonna get taken off the car for boost. Just gonna save up, and then be in evo/sti territory =]

outside albany. its not a commercial airport or anything. I think its just a private strip. My buddy with the cobalt knew the guy. Don't really know to much about it, first time ive been there.

no, he was stock. just bought the car today. Used to have a modded evo with probably close to 350whp. needless to say it was slower than hes used to, but he said hes impressed with it.

after seeing them i like the balts alot.. Good power, sound cool, and i actually like the way they look.. The stock boost gauge is kinda cool too.

I'm so used to leaving comments like "He doesn't have to be modded, they dyno 20-30 whp higher than si's with much more tq and weigh about the same."

But then I noticed who actually posted it, haha.

Okay, I initially left this thread open simply because it sounded like a sanctioned event and 2 other mods left it open. After having to delete a post that proved a very good point (about street racing threads) I will now close it.

I didn't notice until I just backtracked that it was pretty much just a buddy taking you to an open airstrip so you two could race. Granted, I'm sure it was safer and all.. But still against the rules considering it was not a sanctioned event.

Sorry for the miscommunication towards any other members.
