Don't Race

Mods i know this is about street racing but i'm not putting it to brag or glorify it i'm wrighting this to show the dangers of it and hopefully some one will learn from my mistakes.

so yea my buddy and i were going way to fast down a twisty road it was dark, the ground was cold, and there was probably condensation on the road. we both slid off the road into a spot that was some what underconstruction but only got cleared and never started cuz people lost intrest in building on the land thats why its got nice twisty roads w/ nothing else there. but yea long story short his car and my car are both ****** up. i went threw there the other day and did everything just fine i was really tearing it up. i thought i had it all under control and even thought maby i could push it a little harder. we got lucky no one was hurt there wasn't minimal damage to our cars for what happend 2 us, and we didn't damage anyone's property. moral of the story is no matter how good u think you are you can never account for everything and never know whats going 2 happen untill it happens. i came w/in inches of my life i just barely missed hitting one of thouse green electrical boxes that hold all the C/B's that probably would have been bad i don't know how i missed it cuz i was headed right for it but someone was looking out for me. I'm not going 2 say god cuz i dont' wana affend anyone but think what you want to and so will I. I just really hope that everyone can learn from this story. I know i am learning the hard way.

Its good that you're brave enough to tell the story of your stupidness. But glad no one was hurt and lesson was learned.

thanks for the good wishe's i'm going 2 put it up on a lift and see how it is doing. but as far as the damage i am going 2 take off the front bumper and i hope 2 be able 2 pop out the dent enough 2 install the lip kit and on the rear quarter panel it is just dented in were the I vtec sticker is so the lip kit will deffinatly cover it up. so i'm thinking lip kit and new paint w/ lots of clear coat. something i wanted 2 do anyway. as far as whats broken hopefully nothing suspention whys but after i hook up the body i'm going 2 take off the High flow cat and put the stock one back in and take it to the dealer and say its running wird. cuz it is a really rough ride when i go over 55 so hopefully its just the road but it is makeing me paranoied.

And this is done, yet illegal, why? I mean, Do it on the track.

Sorry if this seems rude but its just another case of a bad decision resulting in damage. I'm tired of hearing it and it needs to stop.

I wish everyone would stop being dickheads and attempting to race whether its through traffic or not, but only on the street. Track is different.

Oh cool, after you street race and potentially kill yourself and your friend along with most likely property damage you decide to now try to rip off the Dealership you brought the car from? Come on man, you put yourself into a situation where you have to "Man Up" for lack of a better term and deal with the consequences -- it sure the hell isn't the Dealerships fault that you managed to lose control of your car and smash it on a bunch of shit. Thats not what a warranty is for.

Damn, glad you're okay. I would wash the car in one of those coin-ops before putting it on a lift. It's so filthy you can't really see if there are scrapes etc.

yea i was the other si in this situation... i was going first and well lets just say yes i misjudged the corner and i am used to going fast through the twisties.. long story short i ended up sliding sideways for about 120 feet took out one of those cheap fences and well i am extremly lucky i did not roll the thing. only thing that was wrong with mine is both beads on my front tires came off and went to the shop today and they are just fine also that there is no body damage besides a small chip in the paint above one of the side skirts. now im not going to say it was not fun because it was even sliding sideways but im just glad that no one got hurt. and to me i just think i need better suspension and some stab bars.. ne ways be careful out there. will post more pics of my car.

I'm sure most of us have done some spirited driving in a fun car like the si, but sometimes it may get out of hand. (peer pressure, street contests, exploring the limits of the car...etc) No one expects nor wants to be involved in an accident, but it happens unexpectedly at times.

Fortunately, I haven't been in accident due to reckless street driving (I don't race on the streets), but I do feel sympathetic for him.

I want to share my two cents:

1. Go kart racing (K1 Speed) - This is a really good alternative to release that urge to race. You will go against some very good drivers in a safe environment who will teach you the meaning of "fast".

2. Any track events (search on google for a local track) - If you would rather test the limits of your car and mods in a responsible manner.

Both of the above suggestions are A LOT cheaper than getting speeding tickets, crashing your car, or medical bills.

you make a good point. i had made the turn befor just the other day and i knew i could do it i don't know why i was going as fast as my friend but for somereason i was... but yea i had 2 go back 2night just 2 prove 2 my self and i did it just fine no problems once so ever so i don't know what happend last night. but yea i went back to take pictures of our tracks and the terane and first i went around really slow and then i found that i had taken the corner 30mph to fast last night 45 was were the tires screatched around the corner so i was deffinatly being really stupid and well i'm never going 2 do it again. i'll have some more pics up of the damages probably later 2night or tomarrow but as far as on the track u can do the same thing on a track and this place is basically a unofficial track. but yea deffinatly never pushing the limits of my ability as a driver again or pushing the limits of my cars ability 2 see how fast i can do something.

but as far as the damage the part of the frame that the radiator was bent up a little on the drivers side so now my radiator is sitting kinda slanted, my bumper is cracked and a lot of the plastic clips that hold it all togeather underneath were riped out so i'm probably going 2 get a new front bumper and paint it and then my side panel is dented in really bad. i got a friend that used 2 do body work and he is going 2 try 2 fix it if not i am going 2 take it to the body shop and do an insurence claim and have everything fixed right instead of just covering it up w/ the lip kit. so we'll see. thanks for reading
