+1 on the minis owning GS. Still, its all for fun, and unless you are up against nats level talent, you always have a shot.

Yup, local driving is fun in GS. Took first in Birmingham, AL today against a Mini and a Celica GTS. I hate to admit that there was a Mini in HS that ran 3 seconds faster than I did...

Atlanta next weekend!

Update:

Well looks like the Mini driver didn't bring his "A" game or just wasn't that good. Guess I lucked out this time.

Ahh... you are in the Oklahoma Region. Yeah Gene is not out there to win. I think he's in his late 70's. He's fun to talk to and hear about we he first started autocrossing... 35 years ago. I went down to a Remington Park event last month and had some fun. I'll probably be back down there next month for some more cone dodging. Good job on taking home GS bragging rights!

Ya I guess I never got to meet him.I will have to get some of those stories from him next time. You should come down again. I'll look for some Tulsa autocrosses since my family lives there.

This link will take you to the Atlanta Regions SCCA site:

www.SoloAtlanta.com

This Sunday there's an event at Turner Field, and next Saturday they're running a night event at Atlanta Motor Speedway!

Hope to see you there,

Peter

I'll probably come out on one of the days, but not really planning to be there all weekend or anything. When are you going?

I'll be there Friday afternoon/evening to tech, get some practice starts, and walk the course. Then essentially all day on Saturday, and staying through the Challenge rounds on Sunday. Should be a blast...plus I need to make up for Devens.

I posted pics of them in this post when I bought them last year (post #202) They have about 6 events on them (or 30 runs), are stock size, weight about 15 pounds, and are forged aluminum. They are called Roja Formula 5's. Anyhow, if anyone has an idea of what I could get for them, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Might be interested - If the price is right. Saw the post on the rims, what tires are mounted? Were they heat cycled when new?

Grrrrrr, I'm very annoyed at the nebraska region (scca) today. They planned an auto-x (the first in a month no less) on fathers day. Idiots.

I would like to get $800 for them. The tires are Avon Tech-R's as seen here:

Avon Tech R

They were not heat cycled from Tire rack, but a local auto-x pro helped me break them in properly. They have been stored in my basement since last fall.

30 runs or not, the tires will account only for maybe $100 for the set with regards to the entire purchase because they are used and they are Avon's to boot, meaning they were hard to begin with relative to the V710 or A6 and they are even harder now... They have sat for almost 3/4 of a year and race tires depreciate worse than anything else in the racing world.

So for the seller, please make sure you recoup what you really want for the wheels and don't really try to recoup any money from tires, it wouldn't be wise imho, but what do I know?

Thanks for the info. That's why I posted earlier to try and find out what the wheels and tires are worth. The wheels are really nice for a dedicated racing set (forged aluminium) and weigh ~ 14.5lbs. The paint on them is not perfect (you can see where the hangers were on the inside), but for racing - who cares. What would you estimate the set to be worth (wheels and tires)?

Not as well as Sunday did. Was sitting in 8th of 12 in STX in the morning sitting on 2 coned left side runs. Moved up to 7th after getting a clean one on the left in the afternoon. On Sunday I managed to improve by 0.3 seconds and moved up to 5th, only 0.05 seconds out of the 4th trophy spot, 0.11 seconds out of the 3rd spot, and 0.45 out of 2nd. A lot of great competition and an absolute blast, but there's only so much you can do against AWD at a Pro.

And speaking of having the wrong car for a class, I'm trying to figure out next year and am considering a new MCS for GS. Do you mind if I come and play?

Good to hear about this weekend, sounds like it was awesome... maybe next year ill make it out there.

You're killing me here. I'm down to 3.5s off the time of the r56 cooper on rcomps, and you want to come in now? I actually wanted to go all out next year and see if i couldnt finish in the top 2. That said, I hear they are a blast to drive, though if you are looking for real competition in stock in our region, why not go into AS or BS- GS is what, 3 guys that even run on rcomps?

Anyway, the new fasttrack looks like it might shake things up a bit in GS http://scca.com/documents/Fastrack/0...track-july.pdf . Looks like they want to move the srt-4, MS3, and Cobalt SS TC to GS (and the ITR to BS, finally). I'd assume that in our region, the MCS will still be top dog, but with some development in the MS3 and Cobalt, it will be very, very interesting to see what happens. I really feel like the Si is bringing a knife to a gun fight right if this all goes through, though I still love driving it. Who knows, might be time to step up to the MS3 or something (love the MCS, but cant get over the interior, ugh), or an rx8, who knows?

Hell, buy my car if you want to have the wrong one for the class again, and fund my addiction
