I haven't gotten a call back from the shop, though I did call like an hour or more ago.

I wonder if I should be worried it is taking them this long.

Oh and there better not be a nasty surprise of a bill waiting.

Just got back from teh alignment and I need to purchase another set of camber bolts. I was only able to squeeze out 1 degree from the front left, and .5 degrees from the front right. I need to recheck the first set to see why they were so difficult to get in.

I just got a call from my shop.

They said they could only get 1.25 out of the fronts.

I requested 1.75 front 1.25 rear.

But they set both 1.25. I told them to call me and let me know what they set the fronts to if they couldn't get 1.75.

Argh...

What were your settings before the alignment, roughly?

Stock or close to it I guess...

0 up front and 1 in the rear I think. These are stock according to HighRev...

Camber
Front
0 º 00 '±30 '
Rear
-1 º 30 '+1 º 05 '-0 º 45 '

Total toe-in
Front
0±2 mm (0±0.08 in.)
Rear
2+2-1 mm (0.08+0.08-0.04 in.)

Nah he was lurking at the time. Saw him on active users.

I'm not that crazy...

...I think.

Hopefully those camber settings work out. I am kinda confused as to why they couldn't get more out of the front. Looks like a talk with High Rev is in order.

For some reason when I had two bolts in my alignment shop could only get 1.25 out of them... once they took out a set of bolts they got both to -1.7.

Go figure.

Weird? So they took one out and then readjusted? Maybe that is the trick...

I'd like to put more camber in the front if I can. I drove the car today and it felt really good. It had a lot of grip even with the rain and kuhmos. Then again it was warm today and my car loves it when it is warm. Tires probably appreciate it too.

Even so, the car felt different and it definitely felt better.

My inital thought is that they are utalizing 2 bolts wrong...The top bolt is used to pull the top bolt location in...While the bottom one is used to push the lower section out..If the use both to pull in the lower one then offsets the upper one and I would say right around -1.25 is where it would end up. Does that make sense?

That makes sense, I figured it was not the fault of the bolts. I don't know if I could use that info to take it back and get them to redo it for a discount or something.

Too damn bad Redshift isn't near by...

That or I should do what you were saying about getting a DIY alignment setup. I still have that link you sent me but was confused since that site had a lot of stuff.

I am beat. Lots of driving and running after cones.

I gotta say I learned a ton about tires and driving, especially rotation. Brian, Cy and Chris had a lot of input about tire pressures. Brian demonstrated his mad skillz and Josh really came to the rescue and completely altered how and when I turned in for corners and slaloms. Having him shotgun saying "Turn! Turn! Turn!" at the right moments was invaluable. That allowed me to really experience a proper turn in, it was a lightbulb going off. "Ah ha, so that's how it works..."

That lone made up the majority of time I shaved and was probably the biggest lesson of the day. Oh, that and don't trust the state of Maryland to mark closed exits...

Oh yeah, and I owe another thanks to Cy for letting me buy some gas. I uh, was running low...

I'm definitely pleased with the day. Everyone was awesome and I was able to make pretty good strides.

Well I was able to upload some videos to my computer. I gotta say other than really insensitive audio I am pretty happy with the camera. Video quality is nothing to write home about but the fact I can mount it on the roof and have nothing running to it and all I have to do is reach through the moonroof and hit the shutter button before and after a run.

The vantage point on the roof is really nice. I just kinda stuck it there without thinking too much about it but I bet if I test fit it a little I can get a really nice wide view of the course and be able to see the edges of the car and how close I am getting to the cones.

Unfortunately I didn't get any good runs on tape. I think all were before Josh rode with me and adjusted my driving but if anyone wants to kinda see what it looks like I might upload one and put it online. Maybe I'll do the one where I spun and one of the corner workers tentatively steps behind the lamp post.

This was a pretty relaxed test and tune. No results this time.

Next week you can expect some.

Oh Greg, I was able to briefly meet Chris. We didn't get a chance to talk much, hopefully I'll be able to meet up with him at an event down the road. Would love to have a suspension talk so he can fill my brain with knowledge. :) It's good to see Redshift is so involved in the sport.

Might we ever run into you down here?
