Awesome...
Vulcan's website says only two tires in both warehouses. Emailed Vulcan, asked when they were getting tires in. Went to Edge Racing. Ordered the Tires. Vulcan replies. Says they're getting more in Monday in their UT warehouse. Went to their site. Shipping from UT is twice their PA warehouse, over $80. Emailed them and asked when they were getting them in PA. Didn't get a confirmation email email from Edge Racing. Called them this morning. Turns out they don't have any in stock. "Website should have said that. More coming in a week or two." Vulcan replies. Says "Sorry, you did not specify your location so I assumed you were located in a state near UT as we had stock in our PA location yesterday." But not according to your website, which said both locations had two each... Why can't Tire Rack just carry Falkens? Last edited by Gonzo; 03-27-2008 at 01:58 PM. |

Hey, been reading here for a little bit (you got me to come back gonzo, i was in the blue sedan at the level 1 school) and just ordered up my new wheels and tires, and figured I would get a bit better alignment done. I remember seeing specs in one of the threads on this forum, and was wondering if anyone could link me or post some specs for GS, only mod at all being the new wheels and tires.
How was the level 2 school Gonzo, got that next weekend and I'm stoked ![]() |

Yeah dude I definitely remember, glad to have ya back. :)
Alignment specs, don't have a link right now but I can guarantee they were posted by HighRev1, he is our local Si owning autocross guru, and one of our general autocross gurus. For your car my guess is you will want to have the shop put maximum camber possible on stock hardware is you're running GS. We can ask HighRev what he thinks should be done to a GS car. Level two was awesome. It was wet out which added to the experience. We did figure 8's to practice throttle streer (though I learned the most about throttle steer later in the day) and then a slalom heavy course. I killed a few cones and sideswiped one at one point. Actually left a dent in the side under the door. My car was too tail happy, probably due to my aftermarket rear sway which will be coming off for now. Last part of the day we did the same course as level 1. The instructors got a chance to give us lots of feedback. Everyone was helpful. I am bad with names but my main in car instructors for the first and second day were great. The shorter guy named Greg was awesome because he would watch every run and he kept convincing me to push my car faster when I was holding back. Bryan, the main guy, drove once and rode along once. Man he is fast... He also has awesome instruction. If you don't mind someone giving instruction non stop to you the whole run then you can learn a ton from him. He gives a lot of instruction constantly and gives it well. The toughest part for me was going downhill out of the second slalom toward that hairpin turn. Exiting the slalom was the tricky part. I was getting faster and faster through the slalom thanks to encouragement (or harassment ) by Greg. Unfortunately when you come out of it you are really fast. I kept lifting coming out of the slalom. If you lift too much the rear end gets light and my car wanted to spin. Stay in the throttle too much and the car will understeer into the outside cone. Not that I was doing it poorly but it was super tricky to nail perfectly but man was it a good learning experience on understeer vs oversteer in a FWD car. I really had the idea of hammering the throttle to prevent of a spin ingrained in me. You're gonna have a blast! |

Yeah, Brian is really, really fast, I remember him getting into the low-mid 33's on the L1 school, a fair bit faster than the elise was on my stock wheels/tires. He seemed optimistic about the Si in GS, but looking at the nats results and seeing some of the feedback in this thread just confirmed the whole "spec mini s" thing. 30+ cars and 2 of them werent minis... luckily I'm nowhere near that level.

Yeah it probably will be pretty good in GS. I wish our cars could be in STS, damn that LSD! Actually Bryan said he really liked the LSD in our two cars so it definitely is nice, just class prohibitive.
![]() Are you planning to make a lot of events this season? I'm going to try to hit all of them, we'll see if that pans out but I should hopefully make almost all. I want to see Bryan's kid drive. He's been racing for over 5 years! They pulled the karts out at the end of the first day but it was clear they were going to be a while until they drove. I asked some of the other drivers who knew him, said he was extremely fast and has a lot of talent, plus he has a dad who is so skilled and good at instruction. My dad was talking to the kid at one point. He said he was watching me drive and could see improvement and that I seemed to be learning pretty fast. From a 10 year old!! He's going pro one day... Yeah, I'd love to get out there for as many of the events as I can, I know I need seat time more than anything else right now. Going to try to make all the events this year, as well as some nearby, though I'm having a hard time finding much else withing a few hours of nova. I know they run a decent number of events up in Hershey, PA, and I can hit a lot of the Northern NJ events because I can spend the night at my parents place in DE, no way im leaving at 2-3 AM to make that 6 hr drive. Does anyone else run events within a few hours of DC?

Are the re-01r's that much more expensive? I've heard they are significantly better overall, especially in the wet, and last longer if you are running them for more than just events. My roomate (the guy at the L1 school in the white wrx) is running them in STX, as am I in GS. Nice to get the through the tire rack as well since they do a lot with SCCA and always have amazing turnaround and service in my experience.

Wheels from JLB went out today. Tires from Discount Tire Direct will go out Monday. Oh boy. The package from Corsport has an estimated delivery set tomorrow. I can't imagine they did Saturday delivery, but...? |

Well it was a blast. They put me in novice class instead of HS because of my first time running. There were 57 competitors and I got to run 6 times
. I will make a thread with some pictures later.Oh yeah, posted a faster time than an evo and an sti that were also in novice class , got the first place trophy for novice. |
