They are not trans mounts they are trans link bushings. The torque dampner looks like it falls under STS. I just found out the 255 tires are putting me out of STX now and need to go to 245's to stay in. Kudos for the manual link though

14.8.E. Transmission mounts may be replaced, but must attach in the factory location(s) without additional modification or changes. Transmission position may not be changed. The amount of metal in a replacement mount may not be increased relative to the amount of metal found in a standard mount for the particular application. Solid metal mounts are specifically prohibited. If the bushings you are referring to are any part of the transmission mounting, you are bound by the above. Is there a section you see regarding the torque dampener? Again, remember the mantra "if it doesn't say you can..." |

honda93:
I am contemplating registering for the NNJSCCA event this upcoming Saturday (10/20) at Englishtown. But I would really like to install my front camber bolts and finally get my car re-aligned (it hasn't been done since the car was lowered). I just had a question though, I have never particiapated in an Auto-X so I am assuming I would be classified as a novice, but given the modifications I have doen to my car what class would I be placed in? Mods: TEIN SS coilovers Skunk2 Rear Camber Arms Progress Rear Sway Bar Ingalls front camber bolts (yet to be installed) Thats it as far as suspension mods, and I have no motor work done to the car. Greg has been trying to get me to come out so he can teach me a thing or two and really prove to me that Koni's are superior to my Tein's (I haven't witnessed it first hand yet but I have seen the data, and I'm already a believer). Thanks for any help in advance. -Dave |

http://www.autox4u.com/2007results/10132007nnjr.htm Those times Don and I ran were with a badly blistered LF tire (didn't know that until after the event). The other three tires were within 3-4 runs of looking the same way so it would be safe to say those tires are done and done! With fresh rubber, I would be at least 1 ~ 1.5 seconds quicker than I have been at any event since early September... If one figures that my tires have been shot since then, I could have easily retained the Drivers Championship for a second year straight. Next season, we plan on having more than one set of race tires to work with, thereby increasing our chances of success locally, Divisionally and Nationally... Now I just need to keep the car clean and out of trouble until March when we do it all over again. Needless to say, I am available for hire for the remainder of any events I run this season. But I plan on getting into some Elise's, EVO's, and a slew of other fast machinery that I didn't drive this season because I was so focused on my own efforts. Anthony "Mario" Crea NNJR-SCCA |

Can anyone give me a quick crash course on the different class's? Basically where does STX fall in the spectrum? I know I'm not gonna be competitive my first time out if I do register for this Saturday's event and that doesn't bother me, but I guess I'm just curious where STX puts me in the grand scheme of things and maybe what kind of cars I could expect to be up against. If my car was bone stock would I be in a different class? or are stock Si's placed in STX? Thanks again for the help. -Dave |

Often (but not always), the race tires and shocks alone on a Stock class car are enough to make the car faster than all the aforementioned hardware on an STX car. In STX you'll be facing the WRX (non STi) and the 325/328/330 BMW (non M3). Good luck with that. Anthony "Mario" Crea NNJR-SCCA |

Like I said I don't expect to be the slightest bit competitive my first few times out if ever I'm more interested in giving Solo a try just for fun and to hopefully learn a few things and become a better driver. My car is my daily driver and I'm not building it as an Auto-X vehicle, I'd like to build it as a well balanced car (ie. improved looks and performance while still keeping it practical as my daily). But I hear you about tires and shocks. If I really wanted to keep it simple and not be in STX and hopefully be more competitive I would have just gone with a better set of tires, maybe some shocks, and better brake pads (and possibly SS lines and fluid) but thats not the route I chose. Well I guess I got thinking to do between now and Saturday. Regardless of whether or not I decide to register my car I will be there. -Dave |

Great 1st year for me. I did about 10 events and really became addicted.. next year I'm hoping to attend even more. I was 3rd place in STS - SCCA Chicago region. I missed 3 events, so I feel that if I attended all of them I would have been very close to 1st place.
I'm going to make some changes in the offseason for sure - hopefully we'll have some Koni's come out and I'll mess with the camber and alignment, which I didn't touch this year. Everyone keeps talking about the RE01-R's being better than the RT615's so I'm thinking of picking up a set of those for next season. I can't wait for next year already. I had an absolute blast this year and learned a lot about car control and pushing the boundaries. SCCA is a great club and the people in it are awesome - always willing to help out anyone with anything. Couldn't ask for more. |

Mario, I was spectating at the NNJ-SCCA event at Englishtown on 10/20 and I noticed alot of cars running STS, STU, and SS but I don't think I saw any marked STX (the class you mentioned I would be placed in with my current mods).
Is there a reason for that? |

Hell, my race tires were shot, so I parked my LX Coupe for the day and co-drove in a friend's S2000. Again, just luck of the draw. |

Yeah I saw your LX parked and I think I saw you driving the s2k, my friend barry was drivin the silver s2k and it was his first time out. I regret not waking up early enough to register my car and participate. Looked like a great time, oh well I still had fun taking pics. Next year... BTW here is a link to a thread on Tea-Integra.net where I have posted about a third of the pics from the event that I have edited so far if your interested, many more to come. Just wanted to post up as our autox season ended on Sunday.
For our little region in N.E. Oklahoma, the Si owns GS. I took 1st in all events I raced in (9 of 10). My friend Todd (Si coupe) took 2nd in every event he drove in. Then a bunch of "non-competitive" Mini drivers followed behind. No mods, in fact I ran the odd R-compound front, Azenis rear. Todd ran Azenis all around. I'd also like to say my wife drive 3 events early in the season. Won Novice on the second event. I've got to tell you, we had an absolute blast all year long in the Si's. What a fun car to drive. ![]() ![]() I'd like to say I'll be in it next year, but I'm seriously considering an Evo X so next year may be a completely new experience. |

It's a nice place to visit, but I sure wouldn't want to live there. That would be one of the few cars I'd lease as opposed to owning... Just give it back when it's about to rape you financially. I don't tell current EVO owners this of course, I like car whoring their cars too much to have them get upset with me! ![]() Anthony "Mario" Crea NNJR-SCCA |
