Just wondering why there isn't a separate Forum for Autocrossing...why mix it in with Race Related...sometimes it's difficult to read through 40 some odd pages of stuff...instead of being able to create a new post relating to a topic you want to discuss?

Thread has been slow lately... Nobody's doing anything?
I scored a big one on eBay. Guy had a set of RSX wheels (Stock legal) and slightly used Avon Tech RA's for $100 with no reserve! Nobody bid, well someone else did, but the lister didn't word things correctly and as a result took somewhat of a loss on the item... So I won! I'll burn off the Avon's the remainder of the season at local events so I can save my Kumho's for events that matter. Once they're gone, I will probably put the Bridgestone RE-01R or Kumho SPT on the RSX wheels and have myself a capable rain tire (not sure if I'm running Hoosier A6's in 2008 in which case I'd have to save for a set of Hoosier Wets for contingency reasons). I drive to MA on Saturday morning to pick them up. Anthony "Mario" Crea NNJR-SCCA |

I skipped our local last weekend to do the F1 race.
For those interested that are on myspace, I blog the happenings of each event I do on my myspace page. It is at myspace.com/karpsam. It just easier to direct people to those blogs when I get emails asking questions on set-up and what not. Also, this next Fastrack should be an interesting one. The June release is always action packed. |

SOLO STOCK CATEGORY · The following class change proposals are submitted for member review: o Move the listings for the variants of the Mini Cooper S which are currently in G Stock to D Stock. o Move the listing for the Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works package which is currently in B Stock to D Stock. It's not a definite yet as the SCCA is looking for member input, but it may open up GS a great deal. Personally, I am still glad that I bought an LX to campaign in HS. So I wrote my letter to the SOLO Events Board about the proposed move of the MINI Cooper S from GS to DS. You Si guys should know that I support the move, but you won't be too thrilled with my rationale however as to why your cars should be going as well.
Makes me glad I'm in HS with my LX Coupe! Anthony "Mario" Crea NNJR-SCCA Here's the letter... June 29, 2007 To whom it may concern: I am writing to show my support for the proposed movement of the MINI Cooper S (and its various “trim” options) from GS to DS. Granted, I compete in HS and this doesn’t affect me directly, but I felt compelled to speak on behalf of everyone who owns a GS car but (realistically) cannot run it competitively on a national level because it’s not a MINI Cooper S. Both national and local results over the last two seasons have finally brought this proposal to fruition as it is being offered for member input. Often, a 2005+ GS MINI Cooper S will run and beat times set by DS cars, and although the SCCA National office doesn’t set PAX figures, the two classes have been very close in PAX since 2006, a year after MINI offered the LSD option. For 2007, the two classes are separated by .001%, essentially telling the autocross community that the two are identical and it is time to treat them as such. The SCCA already has “flavor of the month” classes in its upper echelon Stock classes. The historic intent of GS and HS is to be more accommodating to those cars and drivers who can’t afford, or simply choose not to, compete in SS, AS, BS, or even CS. Yet, one wonders if this opens up a further “can of worms” because the definition of what makes for a proper DS or GS car raises further questions. In my opinion, DS should be restructured to accommodate cars with clutch-based or gear-based LSD’s (meaning the 2006+ Civic Si and the 2003+ Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V should also be moved up with the MINI Cooper S). Consequently, GS should be kept for cars with viscous or open differentials. Granted, it would still relegate certain cars to obscurity on a national level, but at least the rules would be concise on a matter as important as differentials for it is due to that $500 option that allowed the MINI Cooper S to distance itself form its competitors in GS and render everything else uncompetitive. Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter and I sincerely look forward to seeing how this matter evolves. Sincerely, Anthony J. Crea NNJR-SCCA 221596 scca8@yahoo.com |
