Raced a new Evo

I saw this new evo leaving a tuner shop by where i lived, and i knew he was goin to cruise around on the vard. I followed him and we hit a light, and i knew i was goin to lose, i just wanted to see by how much. Well we both started out pretty good, I launched at like 2.5...i think he overreved his cause his tires were spinnin mad but he still beat me. It ended when the road merged into 1 but he was only like 1 1/2 car lengths away after like a quarter mile....he said something about using his "launch control" for the first time or w/e, Evo's are fast cars.

I thought the EVO's werer AWD??? How was he spinning?

awd can still peel out and lose traction at launch if the rpm's are high enuf or if they have uber mods

Evo at ETown last Fri spun his fronts all the way through first. I have chirped my fronts in my S4 and Legacy GT.

I guess his "launch control" is the adjustable diff?

heh well i think because he messed up on his launch is why i only lost by about a car and a half...it was pretty bad, i bet if he would have launched better i would have been totally smoked

Thankyou so much 19with hids for posting a real race. You see people on here bs ing about beating evos. You are one of the few true reporters that know that true power of the civic si. The new si is fast but not compared to the evos and other higher powered cars. But good job on the driving to keep up with him. I wish i had an si, i wouldn't even look at a guy with an evo in my little R18.

Evos have launch control on their stock ecu, or the ecu doesn't let you rev over a certain amount (I believe 5k rpm) until you gain traction. A handy feature for effective launching and not obliterating the tranny at the same time.
