wow, this is really starting to get old. Every couple days yet another person asks, "will my SI beat this MUCH faster car?" 9 times out of 10, the answer is NO! Yes, driver error plays some part, but just look at the numbers and you get your answer.
If you dont know the numbers, do yourself a favor and subscribe to a car magazine, I'd recommend Car&Driver (my personal fave), but way too many people on here are asking stupid questions like these.

mazda speed 3 thats got the turbo with 264hp/280tq then no shit your gonna get smoked...but the other trims you'll smoke....
If it wasn't so ugly I would've boughten that thing.

Trade in value and quality of the Si I will take any day over the Mazda. Zoom Zoom is the sound of depreciation. O Hey! I hear Dodge is making a SRT4 with 300hp, looks like a fist full of scrunched assholes and build quality somewhere south of a Yugo. Lets line up for that piece of shit for some Turbo Charged HP numbers.
I got 10K or so for a 6 year old Si that I TRADED for my 06. I don't think that wil happen with the Mazda. Si's make folks smile, look cool and are HONDAS.

whoa bud, no one is arguing the Mazdaspeed3 is a better car or worse, it is just faster. No need to get so defensive because there are faster cars.
