What??? That class saved amateur road racing, most of the time the fields are HUGE with 40+ cars.

*Cheap cars to build and maintain
*Reliable
*Proven platform (very responsive, short wheelbase, RWD chassis)
*Good suspension design and geometry
*Driver-centered series (hence "spec")

Granted the talent level varies greatly, but with such close racing, even the guys battling for 37th spot are guaranteed an exciting battle.

If I had the time and money for amateur road racing, that's what I'd be in.
