Screw HP, its all about the torque curve. An engine can make 210hp at 20,000 rpm (equiv to 55lb/ft @ 20k rpm) or you can make 210hp at 6,000 (equiv to 184 lb/ft @ 6k rpm). After that it's all about gearing and making it useable.
I believe it would take less time for the boosted R18 to rev to achieve peak power than the Si. Variables other than TQ and HP do play a large factor. |

for anyone who has no automotive background. how much power does an r18 have stock? 140, 150 at the most. with an automomatic transmission, you lose about 25 to 30 percent of ur crank hp. so right now ur looking at about 115 or less to the wheels. in order to make 210 wheel hp, u would have to boost a hell of alot more than 6 damn lbs. 6lbs. would give him roughly what the car claims stock, but to the wheels. now with 140 150 hp to the wheels, with that crappy a/t gearing, he's not only gonna lag off the line, but it's gonna suck trying to catch up to the lsd launch the si will have.

now granted that luis drives like old people make love, there's absolutely no way he can lose. he would have to launch at 2nd to give the r18 a fair shot at winning. have any of you seen an r18 block? the cylinder walls are paper thin. i don't think the r18 would live through anything more than 5 - 7 lbs and that's depending on how you drive it and tune it. si wins hands down. if anyone wants to, ill even put my si on the line. that's how confident i'am. and if anyone mentions canyons again. drive an si through the canyon then drive an a/t lx through the canyon, then you'll see why it would be a ridiculous damn race. there's absolutely no damn way that the a/t lx could win. sorry al, but reality is a b@#$%. don't think i'm hatin, cause you know i ain't got nothin but love for ya baby.

I'd say the Si, still for the gearing, higher rev's, and better top end. but the turbo should pull harder til about 60mphs though, so I'm gonna have to be undecided.
I'd like to see the R18 win though!! I've got an Si, but to have an R18 beat one would just be comical and I'd love to have the owner of the R18 talking shit!! the fact that his car that is stock at 140hp, is AMAZING that it can perform close to the Si. I'd love to see a video of this..
