I'm Canadian so forgive me if I choose to use kilometers... (Which is what the rest of the world uses).

I can be driving (my RSX-S) at 120 kph and drop it into 3rd from 6th no problem. You should be too. My 2nd gear tops out at 100kph. 3 goes up to around 140 kph.

Just downshift to a gear you know you'll have some room to hit your redline at and you should be good. I'm betting you could have still gotten some in under 3rd gear. Just make sure you don't let the RPMs drop or you'll feel a big jerk. When downshifting, you actually want to the RPMs to rise to RPM match.

thats the vtec kick in and its great aint it. i love downshifting into it as well but be carefull because excesive amouts can seriously damage drivetrain componets if done improperly.

I sorta have my downshifting estimated where I double all the gears

1st anything in the 20's
2nd anything in the 40's
3rd anything in the 60's
4th anything in the 80's

As i said, its nothing offical, just use it for a frame of reference.

Besides the engine won't limit the revs when downshifting so be careful with the redlines!

The flywheel will be spinning but if you don't give it gas the motor won't be working that hard.

I've tired downshifting to 3rd (06 Si) from 130-135 ish, and you get like two seconds in 3rd then you redline. and i think our second gear maxs out just under 100kph. not too sure this is from what i remember reading, maybe i'll try it out after work hehehe
