Cobalt SS vs Civic SI

07 Cobalt SS Supercharged vs 07 Civic SI

I ran today on a track. I could tell you this, both cars are nice. I drove the Civic SI. Mods are TB spacer and gaskets, Fujita SRI, TB coolant bypass. I must admit, the Colbalt outran me in every aspect of racing; Drag, Track, Top End. My 07 SI was put to shame.

Can anyone actually keep up with a Cobalt SS Supercharged and with what mods?

PS - Just thought I'd let you know, I still like my Honda better :)

I can beat cobalts off the line. I've gone up against a few of them. I have AEM CAI / DCRH / Hondata Reflash / Apexi WS2 exhaust and sticky tires. Yes, I do know that cobalts are supercharged, that's what makes it more fun. All motor baby!

I have raced a few. One was stock and he got me by a tenth, he ran a 14.8 to my 14.9 and ran another one with a smaller pulley and he beat me by 2 tenths. His best time over all is like a 14.76, his tires were complete crap, since then i have beat his time with a 14.73 on stock all seasons. It has never been less than 90 degrees when we have raced. Tonight I am going to the track and I'm sure a bunch of them will be there and I will try again.

I have never seen one that doesn't just burn through most of first. He still had a decent 60' like a 2.3 or so to my 2.2. The surface on the the track we run at is about the same high quality as an abandoned parking lot.

lol. That's no good man.

Anyways, ss/sc's are actually really impressive if the driver actually can handle all the power at launch that goes along with a supercharged fwd car. I don't know if sheek still posts here or not, but I remember him talking about a tune that cut boost in first gear so that people could actually launch decently and the numbers went up drastically because of that.

Anything visually that cues you to whether a SS is supercharged or not? I see a few every now and then and wonder.

the larger whale tail spoiler on the trunk indicates a supercharged SS as opposed the spoiler that is much closer to the trunk lid is the 2.4 SS.
