There's no visual difference between a Stage 2 Cobalt and a Stock one. Stage 2 completely changes the car performance wise (should have come from the factory like this). Alot of Cobalts first mods are either Stage 2 from GM, or larger injectors, smaller SC pulley and custom tuning.

In short, its possible the Cobalt you ran into wasn't stock, then again maybe it was I beat a few SI's while I was stock...but I wouldn't describe it as "kicking the crap outta them"

There are also quite a few non-supercharged ss's that have the big wings simply because the dealer can make money off of them, and people just like them so they put them on their regular ss'.

I nearly bought a silver SS but they refused to take the wing off. They also said there was no way to order it without it. What a lie. Needless to say I don't own an SS. (I'm glad, too. It also felt really good to beat a stock SS off the line!)

I have seen a number of SS Cobalts at the local drags around here.

Slowest I have seen was 14.5 @ 100 mph. The rest were high 13's, low 14's.

I have yet to see a Civic (newer one that is) run near those times.

^Yeah man, if you put a good driver (that know how to manage the massive spinning) behind the wheel of an ss/sc you've got a winner.

I wouldn't be bragging about beating the sluggo non-SC model. I'm talking about the SCed one. I only won by about 1-2 bumpers or so but I definately won. (I even had a passenger when he didn't)

Thanks for the intelligent response, I looked it up after I asked the question. I'm not used to the straight 4's with fwd and never needed a dampener before. My last was a 4cyl boxer f/i'd and the one before that was a VQ35.

And that's definately not what I remember a "stiffy" being

why dose everyone think the ss cant handle...the thing was built to handle , the suspension tuning was refined at Nurburgring, the SS time attak car handed everones ass at the Toyo Tires Time Attack.and the ss has been pretty high up in the rankings in grand am cup .Im not trying to throw any stones but, in car and driver the SS out handled the Si and GTI ,mustang gt and mazda mx5 . i cant find the article online but its from the 06 oct or november issue ...
