Aren't RX-8's supposed to be fast?

Well, to make a long story short, a week or two ago, I did two runs against one and beat it by a car and a half on the first run and on the second one he had the launch but I caught up by 60 MPH

I heard RX-8s' power ratings are exaggerated even with Mazda's correction from 250HP to 225 (was that right?).

Anyone else race one before? Oh, I'm an FA5 and he had an HKS intake.

no man, rx-8 = crap, ur 10,000 $ les, 10MPG better and your faster, no he should in reality beat u in the q-mile by .1 or .2....but nice job

I originally thought they were faster than the Si's, but it turns out they put down around as much power to the wheels as we do. Straight line performance should be similar.

my best friend has an 04 RX-8 manual. AEM CAI, Greddy cat back. he runs a 15.3 all day long. I beat him at the track every time.

They're not supposed to be fast. They're supposed to be a stylish, excellent handling, quick enough, 4 seater FR coupe and thats what they are. Talk of them being crap...well thats crap ;-)

There setup for twists, not straight line. They handle very well.

Also $10k more than our cars?? It starts @ $27k Thats like $5-6k more than us.

Yep, power wasn't really a priority on that car. It has just enough. It's a great handling car.

But yeah, Stick gets Better Power than Auto for some reason... Auto is slower than Si @ 190 Builder-Claimed HP.

Don't forget the ms6, or maybe even the cx7. Mazda's aren't bad cars.. Hell, more Mazda's are made in Japan than Honda's.
