07 Si Coupe Vs Mazda 3

I know you guys are probably tired of debating the SI against every car on the road but...

I am expecting my car to arrive here anyday now and my friend insist his car (06-i think.. mazda 3..automatic) will walk all over my SI, I have heard everything from you wasted your money to the SI sucks :\ I am almost to the point of getting him to take me to pickup my car and racing it brand new lol :) What do you guys think the outcome would be?

Tell him to put down the pipe. The Mazda 3 is a mid 15 second car. The MS3, well, we'd lose in that case.

the 2.3 version is..but not the regular.

I've already ran with a couple of Mazda 3's. There's no friggin contest. But like everyone else has said a Mazda speed3 will destroy you. Don't ****-up a rad car during break-in just to silence an idiot.

He has a regular Mazda 3, I guess its just first car syndrome where he thinks he can take anything under the sun

I will wait until I break it in and then show him

my girlfriend has an '07 3, and i've got an '07 Si. the 3 is nice, but this is a no contest style race here. bet your buddy some greenbacks and watch him shut the hell up.

I think the 3 in a manual would be a slaughter... I don't want to imagine what the auto would be like. Tell him to go pick on someone he can actually compete with.. Like a Ford Tempo... Circa 1990.

Suprisingly enough (waiting for the flames), I drove the 2.3l 5 spd sedan mazda3 before I got the si... And I liked it more

While it's not as fast, I thought it looked better, and the interior was just so absolutely gorgeous for the car I was driving (17k).. And it honestly felt as fun to drive as the SI.

Now that I own the Si and really have a feel for it, I'm sure the SI is a lot more fun than the mazda3.. but back when I was doing initial test driving, I woulda gotten the mazda3 no doubt if the dealership had been closer than a 1.5 hour drive from home.

I can somewhat agree on that. The Mazda 3's interior is a nice place to sit in, and it's not ugly inside. A bit dank (too much grey) but overall, it's comfortable to sit in and the sides surely don't scrape and scuff like hell! They are very nice handling cars too, as most small Mazdas are...

...still my nod goes to the Si.

But, anyway, the thread is about what beats what -- and that'll be the Si all the way.

I really like the Mazda 3's gauges. I think they're really appealing. A co-worker of mine bought a fully loaded Mazda 3 with leather and it was more expensive than my Si. Remember, I'm speaking in terms of Canadian funny money here. The thing that really turns me off about the 3 is the center console. It looks very tacky.

My friend bought a Mazda3 S touring with moonroof and spoiler option and splan and it came out to be 22k. I thought he was crazy but he has diff taste for cars.

i love the torque on the mazda 3 2.3l frikkin awesome even if its just a little bit. lol it was kinda weird shifting it though,... u shift from 1st to 2nd, u got the gear in 2nd, and gas is floored, but no response till 1 more second. weird.
