Exclamation Question about my EX

1st off, I have no desire in racing right now. I'm purely bent on cosmetics for my car. However, is there any mods out there besides turbo that would boost the EX's HP from 140 to 200ish? Just want to give it a little more "Giddy Up" when I need to. I love the Gas money I save, and it just looks nice.

Getting 60 hp from bolt-ons probably isn't impossible, but will be hard to do. Boost will probably the only viable choice if you don't get it done with a turbo or supercharger.

Will my engine/tranny handle the nos?

So you're considering nos, but have no desire to race? Thats completely contradictory.

I said I want more "Giddy Up" just when I need to. Just because I want speed doesn't mean I want to race.... besides I'm late for work way to often :)

In that case you'll be filling up on the bottle a lot.... BTW, what your saving on gas you'll end up spending refilling the bottle..

I'd say get the basic bolt-on's, it might not be a 60 hp gain, but, it would be a slight improvement of what you have now, and you'll still be able to save on gas, just my .2..

point taken, and in saying that you have helped my decision on the nos :) Love the gas, had a jeep grand cherokee b4 this and gas was horrible. Now, what bolt-on's would give me a great boost in hp, and by how much?

I think you could get every bolt on imaginable right now and not be too close to your goal, especially with lack of tuning. Methinks you will have to be patient for the R18 market and focus on your cosmetic mods foremost. Or you can upgrade to an Si, and pay a little more a month in gas, payments, and insurance.. that might be about the same as N2O fill ups LOL

Yeah the most cost effective thing to do would have been to get the Si right from the beginning and leave it stock. Let's say you get some basic bolt-ons (I/H/E...I don't even think they have a header for the R18 yet, but let's say there is one) you'd realistically can get something like 20 to 30 additional bhp.

The R18 has plenty of power for being an econo-box gas saver. If you want that extra oomph, maybe all you have to do is to down-shift. VTEC kicks in at 3,500 rpm and redlines at 6,800 rpm. That's a lot of rpms to work with while VTECing.

SI would be your best bet, or you can wait and see if the after market grows for the EX. Either way enjoy the car..

i would say that there are basically no bolt-ons available that would give you a great boost in hp. if you're looking for power, go with the SI...or wait a while until people start dropping the K20Z3 into their LX/EX.

For the purpose of fuel economy, doesn't the R18's vtec turn off at 3,500 rpm?
