Tonight

Tonight I am going to run my car for the first time at Richmond Dragway. The track that I am going to is a pretty crappy track and is kind of famous around here for being pretty slow, but it's like 2 miles from my house. I would go to Virginia Motorsports Park, but it is hard to get more than one run in there because it is so crowded, plus I still have to be able to party tonight. I'll post slips up sometimes this weekend, unless they are really crappy times. If that is the case I will just hide for a while. I was supposed to be running my friend in a SS/SC but he isn't going to be able to make it. I am trying to get a friend with a Mazdaspeed6 with an upgraded intercooler, CAI, new motor mount and a few other things to run, but he said he wants to wait until his tuning stuff and downpipe come in a few weeks. If anyone has any tips feel free to offer em up.

Yeah I bought the Ingall's torque dampener to help with that, but it won't be here until Monday.

i ended up with a 14.9, so I am okay with reporting that. No power shifts or anything because i like having a transmission that works.

I like to shift a little early when powershifting. Just play around with it until you find the perfect 8200 redline...

IF you're planning on powershifting I say try shifting around 7500-7800 rpms.

I probably wont powershift any time soon. I am happy with a 14.9 for now. Hopefully once I get rid of the all season tires I can get down to mid 14's. My best 60' of the night was a 2.241 so if I can get that a little lower it def seems possible.

If you powershift to stay off of revlimiter all you are doing is making the RPM's in the next gear that much lower.

There was an article a while back a Corvette Z06 owner wrote about the actual time improvement of powershifting, and it was all of like 2 tenths IIRC.

Just focus on improving your driving skills and don't worry about powershifting.

I think a lot of it was the track. My friend in the Speed6 ran a best of 14.1 and his car is capable of way more than that. We forgot to bring ice to put on his intercooler, so that didn't help anything. The track we went to is worse off than most parking lots. Plus the weather was insanely hot and humid. It was like 89F and 40% humidity.

I did, the track we are running is horrible. I know I can get better times at a better track.
