My 07 Civic LX at the drag strip! (with time slip)

Well, I raced my Civic LX down the strip 5 times. My times kept improving, I got 17.5 seconds on my first run, on my last run I ran a 16.4 @ 83 mph. I tried launching at 3500rpm. I was racing I believe an 01 Civic Si, he missed 4th gear. He said he ran 15 flat that day. It was very hot that day!! I believe I could have ran a bit quicker if I had more runs.
My Civic is stock except for the oem Si axle-back.
I was racing on 225/40/18 Toyo Proxies 4 tires on Volk TE-37 wheels at 30-35psi.
I have the HFP suspension.
17mm oem rear Si sway bar.
Is this a decent time for a stock Civic LX?

When I raced I had half a tank of gas and no spare tire. I revved it to 6300rpm, then to 6500rpm. I figured no point doing more since the dyno graph posted by Honda shows the power band taking a dive after 6300rpm.
But after just reading that car and driver magazine got a 16.1 @ 87mph with their stock Civic LX sedan I was dissapointed with my time. Car and driver said they got good fuel economy, (around 33mpg, which I don't get) revving the car up to 6800rpm.

sometimes revving it out longer will help because you will end up in higher rpms when you shift

I was just told that by another person. I guess I know what to do next.

Yeah, what you want is the highest AVERAGE horsepower over the RPM's in which you are accelerating. So, sometimes it's better to go past peak power so that you don't land at an rpm of really low power after the upshift. Of course, there are many other variables to consider, but it's worth trying, for sure, especially because the slope of the hp curve is so steep in the rpms leading up to the peak power, which could mean very little horsepower after the upshift if you shift too early.

That red (01?) Civic Si I raced did better on the streets with a passenger than on the track by himself. He has the B16 motor with bolt ons. He thought the R18 Civic pushed 160hp stock. I told him, nah man.... its 140. Look it up.

I'm obviously a Mustang guy, not a Civic expert, but I'm pretty sure the B16 Si's were 99-00, and the EP3's w/ the K20A3 were 02-05.

Ok, yeah so it was a 99-00 Civic Si. Some guy with a new Civic with the R18 motor and bolt ons ran 16.4. Impressive when I ran 17.5 in the beginning.
My car should be able to run 16.0 or maybe 15.9 with synthetic oil change and tranny fluid. Remember all I have that could be considered a performance mod is an Si axle-back. The only car that day that was slower than me was the 18.5 second Chevy Aveo with K & N air filter and the 43 sec. Lancer Evolution, which I believe broke something.

Not sure... I don't want my car to be really loud. Its not fast enough to look good making all that noise. ha... i've thought of removing the oem resonator, then maybe if a good deal comes up get an injen intake? Possibly get the HFP muffler, just cost a lot.
I know someone has to jump in and say: "maybe in the future get an Si!"

Sometimes I fantacize of having an EK Civic hatch with the Acura NSX (C32) motor or the Acura CL-S (J32) motor in the back of it, "middle". Imagine a Civic hatch, with a 3.2L DOHC 6 cylinder NSX motor with the 3.5L Comptech stroker kit and supercharger kit running 5.5psi pushing 500hp on an engine dyno.
