help settle a dispute. FG2 vs. FA5
Ok, so I went to a shop today and theres this guy there with a TW 07 FA5. I have a TW 07 FG2 w/ AEM CAI. He heard my car and he asked what I had done. I told em, and he said "maybe now yours can keep up with mine". I kindly laughed at him and reminded him that our cars have the SAME ENGINE, my suspension's different than his (Multi-link/Macpherson vs. Independent), and that it's more likely a drivers race.
His claim: "I've killed other coupe's like yours and I'm only stock." My reply: "Thursday's track day, so let's meet here at 6 and we'll take em to the track" He agreed, now here's the question. Outside of tailing him on the way home and watching how he shifts (I think I could outshift him w/o a R arm and only 3 fingers on the left had to drive with), statistically which car is faster from stock? Both of us have all season tires (damn Ohio weather), he's stock (yes I checked the hood and he checked mine), I've got more track time both auto-x and strip than the average person, and he's only 17!!! granted 24's not too far off from that, but who do ya'll think will win...

The 4 door only weighs 60 lbs more, and car and driver said they virtually are identical in handling and performance. You "should" edge him out as a result of the intake, but for someone to think a FA5 is somehow faster than the FG2 is just idiotic. If he beat some FG2's it's because they probably didn't know how to shift very well or had some major wheel spin or something, it's not because his car is faster. That in and of itself shows how ignorant he is.

I figure'd it'd be a drivers race but like I said, I hate when "kids" do stuff like that. |

The differences in weight and you having a CAI will have hardly any effect on the situation. It'll all boil down to how you launch and shift.
