Finally Hit Up The Track Today...

wow its was my first time at a real drag strip racing and it is not gonna be my last. it was a test in tune day at kearney drag park at kearney nebraska elevation was 2,100 ft and i made 4 passes first really sucked i had a time of 16.2 then my second was 15.4 and then i did it a third time and got a 15.2 i was really starting to get pissed cuz i wanted to hit 14's soo i tried it one last time and finally hit a 14.9 which i don't think it was that bad for my first time...one thing i really need to work on is my reaction time cuz that was like .6 every time something to work on i guess well, i will post up time slips and vids tomorrow hopefully. oh yeah one more thing i am running a 06 civic si with a aem cold air and a dc sport race header and a skunk2 60mm exhaust and neuspeed race springs

Not bad for some first times. Reaction time is crap, dont bother w/ it. The 1/4 mile starts when you launch not when the green hits.

Don't concentrate on R/T... Concentate on shift point, launch point and stuff like that. R/T has nothing to do with E/T. With the mods you have you should be low 14's... I have just AEM CAI and I'm hitting 14.7's..

well im on the stock all seasions still and i run 14.2's-14.3's consistantly.
also my car is 100%stock besides springs and shifter.
sounds like you need to powershift and check your tire pressure.
if the track is sticky and your getting wheel hop set your tire pressure at 35psi and launch at 4k-rpm but if the track is just right and not to sticky set your tire pressure at 29psi and launch at 5500rpm and give the clutch a lil slip when you get off the line.

i run 14.7's-14.9's when i miss a gear.

Yea make sure you full-throttle shift it. I think it has something to do w/ vtec or something makes it fall out of high lift. Can someone correct me?

you are almost correct. the drive by wire takes a little bit of time to work so its not as instant as a cable throttlebody so keeping it WOT gets rid of the lag from the dbw.

R/T only matters in bracket races.

don't feel bad... i could only get a 16.4....with only a K&N SRI or stock all seasons, kicker Solox 12(probably 75lbs with sub box and amp.) and im a "big ole boy"....i know i could have launched better.... i should have been launching at 5500

Yeah, don't powershift man. You have a sweet car, don't ruin it by beating it up just to shave some time. I think you probably just need to learn how to launch better and hit your shift marks more precisely and smoothly.

Gooo get em but don't power shift
