99 Mustang GT vs Civic Si

So today while i was sitting in traffic waiting to turn left, this Mustang GT waiting in the lane next to me to go straight starts revving the crap out of his engine I didnt even bother to rev back or anything. Then the light turned green and i made my turn. So i was wondering...IF i did race him...how close do you think it would've been?? My Si is bone stock.

200HP vs High Milage 240HP (guessing)

you have shorter gears?
He has Higher Miles
Probably some mods
His car weighs 1000LBs More

It would be close. Perhaps a drivers Race, if he's auto, you might win (crappy launch)

wouldnt mind seeing that, theres nothing quite like a car with a bigger engine and power, getting bested by an econo sport compact.

depending on which year your talking about
the new ones, he would walk you bad if he knows how to drive it
the models before that
i'm sure you will still get walked but just not as bad as the newer models
models before that
you should beat them
varies on drivers and their mods i guess

Oh Boy here we go again....... He can't drive then man. Sorry no offense but with equal drivers you will not beat a 99-04 GT stock for stock it will not happen..let alone a modded one. Now if is an AT it maybe close, but a 5 speed will win every time unless they can't drive. From a roll it will be much closer than from a dig however. It is a race so anything is possible but on average you will lose everytime.

+1 since I just had an 04 GT :) Bone stock 5 spd should walk you by a few cars every time. Auto should be pretty close.

I test drove a 2007 mustang gt california special. It honestly felt like a bucket. It was a 5 speed with 300hp at the crank. I'm sure it has to be fast but I wouldn't want to be in one at high speeds. I drove it hard for a minute but compared to si was just not fun.

In the GT I slowed down at 75 mph because of a concern for safety.

In the si I slow down at speeds well above that only to avoid speeding tickets.

Just thought you should know, I had a stock 03 Mustang GT I dyno'd before doing mods and it was getting 192 HP to the rear wheel. Anybody know the HP to the rear wheel for the SI Civic.

S O R R Y ... My mistake. As you can see, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. My first front wheel drive. Question, with FWD is it easer to get HP to the ground. Not trying to steal the thread. If you can explain, PM me. Thanks !!!

Thats some low HP...Mustang dyno? Most 5 spd GT's 99-04 are putting down about 220 to the wheels. FWIW, I felt fine going from 60 to 140 mph in my Stang against my friends s2k. Probably not as comfortable as I would be in my Civic, just cause it's new. The Stang was far from scaring me though. That was with circa 60k miles on it. It did have its rattles though

In my 2003 GT I had CAI, bumped timing, 4.10 gears, exhaust and drag radials.
These are my best times. They were run on different days, so it wasnt just me getting lucky. If the GT driver can drive (Which most cant, which is why most of the guys with my same mods run low 14s) then you are smoked. If he cant drive for crap it will be close.

I just did some research and found it only weighs about 200 lbs more than a new Si.
