My First Time at the Track
I went to Englishtown for the first time today. My times kind of sucked, but I suppose it takes practice.
My Performance Mods: Greddy Evo2 Injen Short Ram Intake First Run R/T - .791 60' - 2.423 330 - 6.610 1/8 - 10.029 MPH - 72.50 1000 - 12.948 1/4 - 15.420 MPH - 91.73 Second Run R/T - .760 60' - 2.588 330 - 6.807 1/8 - 10.208 MPH - 73.92 1000 - 13.102 1/4 - 15.531 MPH - 93.29 My first run I launch at 3000/500rpm. The second run I launched around 2500rpm. First run was without VSA, second was with VSA. Any tips? |

It takes time man... You can't expect to go out to the track for the first time and hit those low to mid 14's. The best advice I ever got for drag racing is this... Drive your car more, and get as much seat time at the track as possible. It takes practice and eventually you'll be hitting those numbers I mentioned above..

The main thing is to have fun.
Drag racing is a blast and very addicting. These guys have giving you great advice,to drive your car as much as you can and get lots of practice. Try and get your shifting faster before you start power shifting. It takes a little time to get the hang of it. Also your 60 foot times are real slow. Meaning your either riding the clutch off the line,or the tires are spinning bad. Either way pay more attention when you leave the line doesn't matter at what RPM works best for. All that matters is the ET is lower at the end. ![]() But mostly relax and have fun the rest will come with time. |

at the track try launching at about 4000rpm.you will spin through most of first but when it catches you will be in vtec.on the streets launch at about 3000-3500rpm cuz the streets have more crap on the road which makes you spin at lower rpm.it takes practice to get it down.
also about the powershifting the best advise someone can give you on how to learn it is: 1)practice at about 6000rpm so you wont redline it if you miss.and as you get better shift higher 2)when powershifting your supose to keep your foot down on the gas when shifting but i feel it is better let your foot off just a lil and i say that because then if you miss shift it will be less likely that you will be bouncing off the rev limiter. |
