my Si v 98 GST

so i came up on this 98 GST (eclipse) and at first we kind of had a run, but he beat me (he had the jump, and i had a big dip in my way, so i let him have the first one).. so a couple mins later we caught back up to each other and went from about a 40 roll, he honked, we went, and by the end of 2nd i had him by a car, through third i pulled about another car and a half, so i was stocked that i beat him by close to three cars!

then we came to a stop, and he asked if i was all stock, told him that i had intake and exhaust, then he looked at my brakes (stock, but painted) and he said "damn, your brakes are sick! what are they?" lol i told him they were stock and painted, then he said that he was ready to go from a dig, so we did, he launched pretty damn good but still never even pulled on me! we went through 2nd and i had him by about 2 and a half cars again

i am just extremely happy about this, at first i thought that i would loose, then i thought it might be a close race after the first 'run'
but it wasnt!!! :)
i know that if it was a GSX it would have took me from a dig, but it actually might not be a bad race..
i might have to race this really cocky guy with a GSX sometime (i thought that he would beat me pretty bad before this)

that's a lot of car to pull on a gst. I used to have a 97 that was just as fast as my civic at least. Are you sure it was a real gst, did you hear the turbo? I'm not saying they can't be beat or anything, just that 2 cars is alot to pull on a turbo 'lips. good job though.

actually a gsx or talon awd should be about a driver's race with a stock FG2. The slightest edge to the gsx/talon. but really, driver's race.

Gst are pretty quick

only one or two tenths slower in a 1/4 then a GSX

Good kill :)

I believe it, those new SI's are pretty quick and if i remember correctly a stock GSX will run a low 15-high 14 in the 1/4 so with just bolt on's im guessing the SI would come out on top.

In stock form GST's and GSX's are not all that fast, but once the modding begins they can be nasty, and unlike some cars small mods produce great gains for them.

The GST probably has a worn clutch. Afterall they are 10 year old cars.

Stock for stock, it will be close. The torque of these cars are nothing to laugh at.

A simple Intake/DP/Exhaust/BOV/15$ manual Boost controller will easily put the car over 200 wheel hp.

Good kill by the way.

Thats too much money to spend for 200whp. DSM's can be fast but those cars really are garbage, too many problems for my taste, i like a car thats not gonna break on me every other week.

My friend had a 1st gen Laser RS (the fwd version) with 3" turbo back exhaust and MBC. He was in the high 13's pretty easy.
