Yes, the sti will take you. But, not as bad as you would think.. Stock STi's are snails from a roll so you'll probably be suprised as to how close you can hang. Just a guess at least. I personally can't wait to see an ajp si run an sti or evo. Good times, Good times.

I agree for the most part. I mean, if he was talking about putting money down on this race it would be different. But as long as it's here might as well throw a little info out there. :shrugs:

is it because of the turbo lag?

Why? What's the point?

It's all talk... This dude has 2 threads asking who would win either because he's too damn lazy to do research himself, too scared to actually go out and race and just need reassurance from an obviously biased forum... It's annoying to me.

Just do it! Damn...

Nike better give me some money...

That on top of the fact that the subie's awd system really takes a bite out of power from a roll. Everytime I've seen an evo go against an sti from a dig, it was a drivers race. Everytime I've seen an evo go against an sti from a roll, it was evo the whole time.

I honestly don't know why other than it seems subie awd uses more power than evo's awd. That is one of the many reasons why (as I understand it) evo's take to mods waaay better than subies.

All of this is just from being in the passenger seat of 2 sti's on a regular basis for a while there. 1 was stock, the other pretty heavily modded. Sad thing is, the heavily modded one only put down around 325 whp. The same mods on an evo would've probably hit the 400 mark, maybe higher.. just a guess.

[edit] I'll also add that the stock sti got beat a lot worse than I would think by a modded srt4 from a roll. Also, a modded 2nd gen eclipse.

Since I have both a 350 and an SI, I can tell you that the Z will walk away after 3rd. It is a faster car! In the lower gears the SIs 4.9 final drive helps with the lack of torque, but it loses steam from 4th gear and beyond.

But I still love my SI!

Of all the $20,000 and up sportcompacts our there the Si is the slowest in a straight line so we will lose to everyone. The Si isn't god sent and isn't ment to be. I lost standing start race to an altama with a V6. I got off the line quicker but he passed me before the end of second gear. The altama has the same engine with LESS power than a Z and it powers the fronts. Please stop thinking you Si is faster than it really is. If you wanna get your ace handed to you then by all means race the Z. If you want to get your ace turned black an blue before its given back to you race the STI. Pick up a car mag and do some reading before you post these questions.

Why do you think some small bolt ons (which might gain you a net of 15 whp) will make your sporty economy car compete with high 13/very low 14 sec 1/4 mile cars?

350z's are overated. They are not that fast. SI's are not that fast either but the si will not lose far. Think of it like this, the civic will not lose as far as the price gap difference.
