Summer 2012 Midwestern HPDE's... who's in?

I thought I'd try to recruit... I'm a big fan of HPDE's where participants get many hours of track time with instruction in a safe environment, as opposed to one or two single laps for other events. I've tracked my 07 civic si sedan over 10 weekends now, starting with a completely stock setup (well, flush your brake fluid with some ATE superblue or other quality DOT 4 fluid first... don't skip this). Even the stock tires will do OK for your first time out, but that and brake pads will be your next weak link.

So this is a fantastic car to track with little modifications needed. Below are the primary events that I'm looking at, and I'd love to have some other civics come out to join! You'll be amazed at how well you can keep up with the German cars... and their face in your rearview mirror is priceless

Mid-Ohio : March 31 - April 1 : BMWCCA Northern Ohio Chapter : $330
Autobahn : May 6 - 8 : Audi Club : $360/2days
Putnam Park : June 23 -24 : BMWCCA : $350
Mid-Ohio : July 7 - 8 : Audi Club (my favorite event) : $399

There are also Monday sessions fairly regularly at Gingerman Raceway that I might hit up. All these events can be found and registered for on motorsportreg.com fyi. I usually try to save $$ by finding a friend with a place around the track or camping there so I don't need a hotel room.

Let me know if anyone's interested or has questions!

Mike, I may see you at Autobahn this year, have you considered doing any events at Gateway when the schedule gets put up?

This will be my first year with the Civic, with the right driver any car can put up a good fight, I managed to to pass a couple e92 M3's and was on the rear of a Cayman until the end of a session in my underpowered e36, he wouldn't point me by...

Hopefully I'll see you out here!

From what I heard gateway is now closed. As I don't live in St. Louis any more, I probably wouldn't track there. Plus that track is completely flat and if you go off, you're most likely gonna hit something hard... so I don't really like gateway if I can help it.

But hopefully we'll meet up at Autobahn! I had a similar experience with a GT2... he would rocket down the straight at Mid-Ohio, but I would catch back up to him every lap in the twisties... that car should outright murder a civic if driven properly...

They just opened back up before the end of the season, I just took a fresh look at the track (I'm from New England so don't know many tracks out here and I'm used to no run off at all, think WGI or New Hampshire Motor Speed Way).

I hope so I can't wait to see how my Civic does on the track! I'll hopefully be getting new pads, tranny fluid and brake fluid before my first event.

It's how it goes the community is great but sometimes guys just don't want to admit when somebody in a MUCH slower car is faster!
