Best drag tires for 17x8 wheels?

So I made a decision, I wanted brembo brakes.

Due to this, I have to run 17 x 8 wheels or bigger.

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST TIRE FOR DRAG RACING?

Any slicks? Or am I stuck with drag radials?

Drag radial. Going to be stuck with less than ideal sidewall on even a 17 inch drag radial.

You're definitely going to be stuck with drag radials. Granted there's nothing wrong with that, just make sure you have motor mounts AND stiffer compliance bushings because drag radials produce BRUTAL wheelhop.

What brand is best? 245/40-17?

Hoosier makes a full slick, but it is 28" tall. They do have a 225/45 17 drag radial which would probably be the best option from them.

M/T has a 26 x 7 slick in their motorcycle ET drag series, many EVO guys are running these on stock wheels although motorcycles have a different bead contour so use at your own risk.

There was interest on M/T's part to develop a 17" automotive slick last year, but it never came to fruition. There's now talk of M&H coming out with one in January but it's all speculative at this point.
