How are my 1/4 times for the mods I have?
Went to the drag way for the first time last night, just wondering how my times are and if I can expect to do any better as I perfect my launch/shifts.
My Car: 2010 Civic Si Sedan Mods: Ventus V12 Evo tires Boomba torque mounts AEM v3 CAI w/ header wrap and flow straightener P2R TBS w/ 2 insulating gaskets P2R IMG TB Coolant Bypass TWM shifter asembly w/ all bushings M1 Abrams weighted knob - Took out the spair tire and passenger seat Times: 1 - 16.02 (1st time ever, 40psi in tires.. oops) 2 - 15.00 (lowered psi to 30, missed 2nd) 3 - 15.22 (missed 3rd) 4 - 14.85 (pretty solid run) I definatly have room to improve with launching/shifts and I want to pick up a set of slicks for the front next time I go which should really help with the launch. I generally launched around 3400rpm. Obviously my 14.85 was my best time for the night, was this a good time for my mods or do you think it will improve a bit with more practice? Any advice is appreciated! |

you missed a lot of shifts. need to work on that. 1st time i know we all do bad. you should have been 14.5 atleast. try launching at 5500 and powershift if you want the fastest possible time.

I'm on the East coast as well and ran two 15.1's @ 93 at Capitol Raceway in MD bone stock on stock tires at normal pressure. Best 60's I got were in the 2.2's. But I kept having 1st to 2nd shift problems with the rev hang so couldn't bang the shifts out like I would have with my old cars.
I didn't run it with just the intake and spacer so I can't compare. Now that I have a Flashpro, Sk2 header and FR exhaust it is definitely faster. Based on my experience I would expect low 14's with my set up. I think 14.8 with just an intake/spacer is pretty reasonable for a time. I wouldn't expect to improve that much more. Just more consistency once you get the shifting down. |

I ran my car down the track for the first time this weekend too and my times sucked way worse than yours. I'm out in AZ on the west coast. I've got a Skunk2 70mm catback, Pro-S coilovers and a drop in air intake. My best time was a 16.1. Any sugestions?

you race over at firebird?..Should be low 15's or better stock!..launch at 5500rpms riding the clutch out watching your wheelspin!.put your tires around 28psi!..if your worried about 2nd gear, just granny shift it at redline and powershift the rest of the gears!...Works fo rme!..I have I/H/E/FP and pull 14.1's consistantly! when i was stock i did 15.2 using the same method!! GL man maybe i'll see you at the tracks, i usually go to speedworld tho!

you are going to get a million different opinions about what you should and shouldnt do on here. The best advice I can give is just continue going to the track and learn what works best for you. Every car and setup is different. Practice practice practice!

every track is different, your launch point should be determined by the track. if you spin/hop all of first your probably launching too high and losing time spinning, if its the opposite, launch higher and powershift. i find that at a sticky track 4k+ launches are a must.
