Arrow Removal of back seat, and spare tire ect. for drag racing or autocross

Has anyone done this yet, and if so, is it easy to remove? Just wondering, if its was worth a few tenths off of my 1/4 mile times? I also plan to dabble in autocrossing after i upgrade my brakes.

Any and all weight you lose is worth it - to a point.

I used to race a Porsche Carrera 906 that was street and track. Once at the track, I dumped my passenger seat and ran race tires. I am not sure if losing the 130 pound seat helped or not (if it did, it wasn't noticeable) but the tires helped a lot. Tires/wheels were 13 pounds lighter then the street wheels/tires. You could tell mostly in cornering and braking.

If any of that helps...

Definitely pull out the spare and associated stuff.

As far as anything else, it depends on what class you're running in. Removing seats and interior trim will plant you immediately into Street Mod or one of the Prepared classes.

If you're not worried about what class you're in, strip out any- and everything you can to lighten the car.

If a few tenths off your time stub is worth it to you, then it is definitely worth it. Most of the interior stuff in civics is easy enough to strip out (seats, carpets, panels etc). The only thing that is a major pain the ass is the tar covering the entire floor board of the car from under the pedals to the trunk. You have to gut the whole car to be able to get all the tar out. And if it is a new car like the FG the tar will still be sticky and a bitch to get off. It took me several weeks to finish my car. Now that I think back I should have used something like CO2 to freeze the tar and then break it all off in huge chunks. I think the total weight of the tar and felt soaked in tarry stuff came out to like 30 lbs. or something.. I can't remember but it might have been more. Anyway if you take a couple hundred pounds (prolly even only 100) out of your car you WILL feel a difference. Just like when a person sits in your car while you drive you will feel that the car is more sluggish.
btw, if you decide to go all out and gut the car make sure you paint the interior after because it will look like crap. They (Honda) paint the cars after the tar is laid so you will have giant sections of unpainted metal.
