Well, just dropped another $430 on OEM brake components so that I can brake later at the June Sprints (Road America 6/25-27) New booster, master cyl, rubber lines for each wheel, caliper rebuild kits, etc. Really excited for that challenge. Personally don't think the 85k mile engine is up for chasing the champion from last year (BMW Z4 of Toby) and it will have a hard time keeping up with Honda Performance's Civic driven by Chad G. Still excited to go and see.

Chad is no longer registered, so it will be my lone civic chasing three BMW Z4's and behind us will be 2 MINI Cooper S's, and a Miata. Leaving in a few hours to head to Road America. Should be a fun weekend. I am hoping for rain
Then my being down on power won't matter.

Since you use the OEM braking system, do you have any suggestions for Pads?
Also, are you allowed to remove the dust covers? I've done some HPDE's with my civic and the Brakes are always the weak link. Awesome thread, I hope you're still racing the car. |

depends on how hard you drive and if the track is brutal on brakes. lots of people use stock pads for hpde and do fine. hps or hp+ will do fine for an entry level track day pad. but just like everything else for racing eventually you need to go bigger once your skill level catches up and passes the level of the car it self

Only took a week and a half. My cage guy is great.
I am not racing the car any longer, had to sell it to pay for back surgery early 2011. The car saw some track time from its new owner in 2011 and I hope they run it in 2012 as well. Brake issues were never really solved, just had to not drive so deep into the corners. |
