Si vs. 05 grand prix GTP

How would the Si with k&n intake and DC race header fair against an 05 grand prix GTP. My buddies got a GTP and it appears to be pretty quick when riding in it.

I know. He used to get me in my 2000si. I had I/H/E clutch and flywheel he would pull me off the line but we never raced from a dig. I'm thinking he would still get me off the line but curious of how it would turn out from a roll. Just thought I would ask for some opinions

Last time I was out at the track I watched several GTP's (not sure what year?) run the 1/4...I believe one may have had an aftermarket SC cause you could definitely hear it over the other GTP's. Neither car did that well. I don't know their drivers so I can't say whether they're good drivers or not, but I know my buddy pulled slightly better times in his '06 Si (I/E).

My buddy's best was 15.2 (decent since he doesn't race often) and the GTP's were in the 15.5-.9 range. I think the GTP's may have been auto's, but don't know anything for sure.

I think you'd win, but only one way to find out. If he's one of ur buddies who cares? What's a little pride between friends.

my brother has a cobalt ss/sc, and he raced a mild to heavily modded gtp when all he had was a cai, and he pulled on him both times...and that gtp had his s/c ported and polished and all kinds of crap...so if the gtp is even slightly modded i think that an Si could take it, it will prolly be close, but i think the si would win.

Power to weight ratio is going to kick in here big time. How much does that GTP tank weigh?

GTP's (if S/C'd) will run mid-high 14's all day if he can drive it.
anything more than a pulley and I'd put my money on the Grand Prix.
bone stock it may be close depending on drivers.

edit: i used to own one
they are big cars but the 240tq helps get its ass going quickly...

from a roll in second gear i pulled 5-7 cars till the top of third, probably due to his being an auto. from the launch it was dead even till the middle of third i started to walk away. i was lauching off the 5500rpm limiter and feathering the clutch. Overrall definitely a drivers race from the launch. I know street racing is bad but it was a long awaited race since he's always had a car that would whoop up on me.

Got news for you, unless you have aftermarket tires 5500 rpms is way too high for a street launch. You should have ate him up from a dig.

Also, there's no way that our car could pull 5-7 cars on a smart car from the middle of third to the top of third. I think you must have meant top of fourth right?

I believe the curb weight is around 3669 pounds for a 2005 Grand Prix GTP, I may be a bit off, though. They have 260 horsepower, I believe, and 280 pound feet of torque.

I doubt the Si would beat it, unless you took it through corners, in which case the Si would probably win. It may be a boat, but it's pretty quick.
