Track time: 06' LX 5spd

Posted this on honda-tech, but I'd figure I'd share it here....

I got 3 runs in at the track yesterday at atco raceway in NJ.

Car:

Model: 06' LX 5spd
Mods: None - 100% stock
Tire pressure: 32psi all around
Conditions: High humidity, thunderstorms in the area

My best:

Launch: 3100 RPM semi-dump
RT: .736
60': 2.342
330: 6.692
1/8: 10.272
MPH: 68.17
1000: 13.384
1/4 16.010
mph: 86.63

More info about the run:

I kept the tire pressure at 32psi all around because i want to compare future runs with tweaked air pressure. I just called the track and the elevation is 93 ft above sea level.

Not bad for a first time out...any suggestions/comments welcome

I did not stage deep...would this be the reason for a slow rxn time? My other runs I staged deep with rxn times of .374 and .478 respectively, however my 60' times were significantly slower.

I was hoping our 100% stock 1/4 mile would be a bit better than 16 sec! But its good to see people putting their cars to the test! :)
(probably just the reaction time, a buddy of mine got 0 on his once lol)

congrats on the run tho

rxn times are not factored into the ET

I think there's a chance for 15's with the r18. Your reaction time was quite high. Work on that and I bet you'll be hittin high 15's.

As someone already mentioned, reaction times are not figured into the ET.
You can sit there for 40 seconds and still have a 16 second ET. Of course you would also loose the race
The 60 foot times is where the improvement is needed. Stickier tires, and lowering the tirepressure to around 17lbs in front and 40lbs in the rear.
Overall not a bad time for the R18.

how is reaction time not affected into the 1/4 time? I was always under the assumption that it was.

Nope, The reaction time is irrelavent when it comes to the ET. The ET is meassured from the time you cross over the line not from the time the tree turns green. The reaction time is meassured from the time the tree turns green until you cross the starting point.

In an actual race it is important because the total time not only the ET counts. So YES, at that instance the reaction time is very important.
But when you do a test and tune you can take your time and concentrate on your launches to get the 60 foot times down and you don't really have to worry about the reaction time.

Try it the next time you are at the track.

55 shot. I don't want to step it up any higher because there's no way to retard the timing

time doesnt start until you trip the laser. therfor you can sit there for 2hours then go....and still have a 16.0

it only matters in events such as NHRA....in which time starts when the green light illuminates.
