So I was driving down i-55 in chicago to bring my girlfriend home, crusing at around 65-70 when a group of about 4 ricers come up behind me. One slows down next to me so I look over. Definately want to race. I believe he was driving a 96 civic. Nothing special, I didn't see and intercooler in the front or anything when they came up behind me. I only say the fart muffler and the hand-painted dash. You know the type.
I have an automatic, so not as much fun as a manual I'm sure, but I dropped it into D3 and let me tell you, for being an econobox it reacted quite quickly and nicely. I know he stepped on it too because the muffler was deafening, but I pulled ahead. I slow down at 90 and an old riced up GTI comes flying up past me goin about 95 (at that time i slowed back down to about 75). He cuts hard in front of me and all of the sudden a HUGE cloud of black smoke comes flying out of the guys coffee can muffler. He throws his emergency lights on and begins to slow down. I couldn't stop laughing. Then he pulls to the left and the rest of the box of rice follow. Thought I'd share a funny story, at least I thought it was funny, my girlfriend was freaking out about going too fast, which is why I slowed down at 90. |

I'm supposed to say "don't race on the street" and all that, but nice. I have a EX Coupt AT, too...so it's cool to see ATs step up. My gf freaks out when I go fast, too...hehe. Just keep it safe, bro.

I haven't been looking to race.. but now that I think about it. I've only been challeneged once. And it was my 4th day of having the car [I've had it 3 months now].... "Yeah dude, I just picked this Si up, and you think I'm gonna race it  "
I think partly why I don't care to race [right now] is because I'm still very ignorant about car performance in general (aftermarket stuff). And I have a lot of pride, lol... so I don't feel like losing. After I get my Si all loaded up with all the AM stuff I plan on doing. Then we'll see... Deffinatly wanna take it up to a track sometime after my mods are done. |

Hey, if their car sounds louder, then it must be going faster!

I love toying with ricers. I remember I was in the car with my buddy when this riced out Accord was revving his engine at the light. I revved back and he stepped on it immediately when the light hit green. Too bad I just let him take off at full speed (he didn't stop), and at the next light, I pulled up and looked over and waved to him.

I still don't get why people count street racing as racing. Its more of a look at my car type thing. First there arent amble conditions, exterior factors eliminate a fair race and there is no way to actually find a viable winner. Why cant people just go on drag strips. Sorry my cousin was almost killed from two ricers racing on a freeway. I will hate street racing for the rest of my life

yeah, this was the first time I ever "raced" on a highway. And it was just to try to prove to the ricer that something stock is better than him. Although I'm 99% sure they didn't learn anything from it. Even though racing on a highway is really just stepping on the gas and seeing who goes faster. It's more like a game of chicken. But I would never race on the highways like I see some people doin. goin about 115 weaving inbetween cars and such. That's just stupid crazy.
Or crotch rockets doin 130 on the white line flying inbetween two cars. I especially hate that. |

I also don't like street racing because I don't feel like I need to prove my speed to other people. I think my car is fast so thats enough for me.:)

Hey dinkle, sorry to hear about your friend, but since you got the Suby how do you like the sound of the 2.5L? my friends STI engine sounded the same, beastly! the K20 and EJ sound so awesome! oh and alot of ricers try to race me too, dont sweat it,if your radar detector goes off stating a cop ahead, let the dumb4ss get the ticket not you! i try my best and always not to look at ricers and i dont race them either, let them get pulled over not me!

You think you get it alot? Try having an SI. I didn't know it when I bought the car but apparently FG2s come with a factory installed Rice attractor. It emminates attraction waves from somewhere in the tail end. It's either the SI emblem or the spoiler. I'm not too sure.
