The SI I priced out before buying the GT was well over $5000 Cdn more. So I wouldn't expect the 2.4 to keep up. __________________ 2006 Pontiac G5 GT. 2.4 VVT 5 speed. It would definetily take more than bolt ons and a tune to beat an SI. __________________ goodbye 2.4L, hello 2.0L s/c!!!!! looking at specs of the 2.4L and the 2.0L S/C...i'd say the 2.4L engine would have more of a potential with very few mods that can run fairly safe with a considerable amount of boost (15psi) from an aftermarket S/C. i don't know if they made a S/C for the 2.4, but you'd squeeze more numbers out of it than you would with the 2.0L S/C. i'll read up more on the bottom end potential too. dome pistons with a slight increase in stroke, along with a safe boost of about 7-8psi would give you a little monster on that. the SI's still have the upper hand on this. approx. 100hp per liter. i'm thinking the comptech S/C would help top it off and bang another 40-50hp out of it. problem is, you can't boost the SI too much cus of the high compression.

How about against the SS/SC models? I always wondered how that would turn out.

i think someone was asking why they didnt supercharger the 2.4l engine on the cobalt. I read somewhere that they are pretty much the same engine but the block on the 2.0l sc is a 2.4l block but cut shorter to give it a lower displacement of 2.0l. The reason they cut the block shorter was to allow the car to rev highter which in turn revs the supercharger higher. I dunno if it makes much sense but that is what i read on the net.
