I'm not 2.4l but yes i have, 20 roll, wasted...in the 1/4 mile i think the 2.4 would be slightly behind, but street race anything could happen, again driver matters most...

I would think an SI would probably split the difference between the 2.0 and 2.4 engines.

The SI I priced out before buying the GT was well over $5000 Cdn more. So I wouldn't expect the 2.4 to keep up.

it would need more than tune.... an 06 SI has 197 HP, about 180 at the wheels I have never seen a 2.4 with 180 at the wheels. It would definetily take more than bolt ons and a tune to beat an SI.

i highly doubt a car making 197 at the crank is putting 180 at the wheels..maybe 170 but not 180

looking at specs of the 2.4L and the 2.0L S/C...i'd say the 2.4L engine would have more of a potential with very few mods that can run fairly safe with a considerable amount of boost (15psi) from an aftermarket S/C. i don't know if they made a S/C for the 2.4, but you'd squeeze more numbers out of it than you would with the 2.0L S/C. i'll read up more on the bottom end potential too. dome pistons with a slight increase in stroke, along with a safe boost of about 7-8psi would give you a little monster on that. the SI's still have the upper hand on this. approx. 100hp per liter. i'm thinking the comptech S/C would help top it off and bang another 40-50hp out of it. problem is, you can't boost the SI too much cus of the high compression.

Yeah - that dyno really doesn't even compare well. Most SI owners have seen hp anywhere from low 180's to high 180's to the wheels. Honda used the new SAE ratings for their HP rating of 197. Obviously most owners have been happy to see the #'s they are getting bone stock out of the SI. There isn't a huge market for parts quite yet, but a few SI's have been boosted by companies. A few members have the hondata reflash as well - pushing the rev limit above 8k to 8600, lowering the vtec engagement, and adding quite a bit of mid range hp.

sae corrected - to the wheels - 217hp/162tq

SI is the better car and faster car when compared to the 2.4 SS. I would say the SI compares more to the 2.0 SS S/C. The 2.4 SS would compete most likely with the TC and Mazda 3s.

How about against the SS/SC models? I always wondered how that would turn out.

the whole point of this thread is that 2.4 cobalt guys (176 rated HP, about 150 whp) are saying that they are quicker than SI's (197 rated, actual 180's hp)

i think someone was asking why they didnt supercharger the 2.4l engine on the cobalt. I read somewhere that they are pretty much the same engine but the block on the 2.0l sc is a 2.4l block but cut shorter to give it a lower displacement of 2.0l. The reason they cut the block shorter was to allow the car to rev highter which in turn revs the supercharger higher. I dunno if it makes much sense but that is what i read on the net.

Chevy Corvette > Any Current Honda

I love my Si, but GM is getting its head out of its ass, slowly but surely.
