ok top speed on a dyno is not realistic..b/c there is no drag...that just shows you what the gearing is. This also shows how little you know about cars. A top speed on a dyno is the farrest from actual top speed you can find. And NOX, the driver with edmunds mustve been 12...b/c my FIRST TIME EVER at the track, i ran a 14.39 @99mph

and my brother unclesid, is the one that told me about the top speed...he read it on here...that some guy ran his gears out, hit 6th gear at 135ish mph and it wouldnt go anymore

and striker, the slalom his little to do with power..it is a measure of HANDLING. It is how fast a car can maneuver around a set of cones. You can ride a fckin bicycle down these cones and get good times b/c it is not reliant on power, but on handling ability.

how can some of you just be so uninformed? Do you live in this little bubble to where you think what you want, and you don't believe facts? Do you still believe the earth is flat.....?

So who is it that is uninformed? Who's taking someone else's word for it who just read a number off of a forum???

BTW, as for your 1/4 times, I would never factor in things like driver size and ability or track/weather conditions, altitude, whether the car being tested was a production model or a prototype... etc. At the end of the day, you're still driving a Cavalier. Put on the wife beater and crank the Freebird because you can't afford the Camaro your heart really wants.

pull your head out of your ass..... my 1/4 first time ever was 14.39 @ 99

who else is close to that without $4-5k in mods?

and you guys know that the top speed on your car is nowhere close, so thats why you had to pick apart my posts to come up with an argument

Truthfully all you've proven here is that you and your brother can read magazines...
From personal experience because i own an si...i testdrove a cobalt ss s/c and i testdrove a s/c at a dealership...I know performance and handling is better...
Steering wheel is precise and the reaction is instantaneous. On the cobalt all u got is power from the supercharger...they have improved in handling and the reaction is almost as accurate as the si...but what you so called "reaction" a car can have depends on the driver really.
Magazines talk good things about the cobalt because to me it's a really nice car and the handling, performance, and power is far better than the crappy srt's and older cobalt models...
But handling + performance on the road: si > ss
Power on a straight line: ss > si
Interior: si > ss
......
And you're telling me your 1/4 first time ever was 14.39 @ 99...
what was your 2nd one?
3rd one?
alljapscars si kept a constant 13.5s in 1/4 of a mile with a supercharger @ moroso with 4.5psi i think? not sure but its somewhere along those lines and the driver even spun the wheels like crazy...
You're so proud about your first run yet u can call it "luck" or "good driving". Either one of them can apply to you but as you base yourself on "what you read from magazines". It was luck

how much $$ did he spend? cuz like i said earlier we've got a guy that spent less than $3k on his SS and runs consistent high 12's..... with stock tires and no nitrous

got anything to compete with that?

Cobalt SS:
Performance Top
0 - 30 (sec): 2.86
0 - 45 (sec): 4.90
0 - 60 (sec): 6.96
0 - 75 (sec): 10.08
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 15.42 @ 96.98
30 - 0 (ft): 31.88
60 - 0 (ft): 120.15
Braking Rating (Excellent, Good, Average, Poor or Very Poor): Very Good
Slalom (mph): 64.9
Skid Pad (g-force): 33.5
Handling Rating (Excellent, Good, Average, Poor or Very Poor): Good
Db @ Idle: Low
Db @ Full Throttle: 77
Db @ 70 mph Cruise: 74
Acceleration: The Cobalt SS is severely traction-challenged thanks to front-wheel drive and a supercharged engine. The rev limiter hits hard right at redline (6,500 rpm). Launching at a lower rpm helps keep traction under control, but even then torque steer is a problem. The shifter works OK but isn't particularly inspiring, as the stalk is too long and the shifts themselves are fairly numb. The little supercharged motor makes plenty of power, but traction was such a problem we had a hard time getting that power to the pavement.

Si:
Performance Top
0 - 30 (sec): 2.9
0 - 45 (sec): 4.8
0 - 60 (sec): 7.2
0 - 75 (sec): 10.1
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 15.1 @ 93.8
30 - 0 (ft): 31.4
60 - 0 (ft): 122.7
Braking Rating (Excellent, Good, Average, Poor or Very Poor): Good
Slalom (mph): 67.80
Skid Pad (g-force): .84
Handling Rating (Excellent, Good, Average, Poor or Very Poor): Excellent
Db @ Idle: 42.7
Db @ Full Throttle: 78.7
Db @ 70 mph Cruise: 69.8
Acceleration: We launched at 3,500 rpm. Redline is marked at 8,000 rpm, and the Si's i-VTEC system switches to its high-lift camshaft profiles at 6,000, at which point the engine really comes alive. The rev limiter comes in at 8,500 rpm. We shifted at 8,200.

FYI Thats the Cobalt SS N/A 2.4, not the SS/SC 2.0

We've already established that

Cobalt SS/SC > Civic Si > Cobalt SS/NA

http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...ged-page2.html

states:
Cobalt SS/SC
Zero to 60 mph: 6.1 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 16.0 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.7 sec @ 97 mph
(and c&d doesn't do actual top speeds, they go by the manufacturer's stated speed)

C&D's review on Si

Zero to 60 mph: 7.3 sec (over 1.2 seconds slower than SS = about 9 car lenths)
Top speed (redline limited): 136 mph
(no 1/4 mile listed online, but it was 15.0 or 15.1 in the mag)

So, Sethallen, did you get your facts that you were looking for? It would seem that we figured out the comparison between the Cobalt 2.4 SS and the Si.

Upon reading your latter posts it seems you came over from the cobalt forums to start bashing the Si. It started innocently enough but has turned into nothing but a "my car is better than your car" judging by this post...

Are there any other questions you might have about the Si before I close this thread?

6-7 psi is cake for a k series...rsx-s push 12 sometimes on stock motors.

most comptech sc rsx-s run a stage 2 at 7psi daily driven no problems....
go learn about the k-series and honda motors and come back.

it was a dyno jet...

oh i'll be running daily at 7 psi :)...

nope...not this sickyute
i have one god...and he's the reason i have all that i do.
my car's just my toy and that's it....nothing more than a piece of metal with goodies inside...so after being on this board for a short time i don't know how u came to this conclusion...but that's ur opinion and i don't care about it.

ur slowbalt...with it's factory supercharger and shitty interior and craftmanship is just that.....slow and shitty...my Si may be slow out the dealer's floor but atleast it's not shitty.

i notice is the post above u said cobalt wont the slalom by point 1...supercharged vs NA and all that crap about being faster but it scrapes up a point 1 margin of victory...driver error!!! ... that's just lame

actual dynos don't mean shit.
on the street anything could happen.
one car my be heavier, one car's gearing is better than the other
weather conditions can affect one car a lot more than it does the other..
all kinds of shit can happen.
driver is the biggest one in my opinion...

in all honesty i've see 2 stock for stock races...both times the Si won but it wasn't bus lengths.

i've seen a lightly modded Si run a lightly modded balt...balt was ahead a lil bit and as speeds increased the Si began to creep up...then they shut down...enuff to say balt won
