Thumbs up 06 SI vs 05 SI

Well it had to happen, I had my first race today against a 05 Fiji Blue SI with CF hood and some body kit. I was pulling out of the gas station on my way home and he pulled out of the McDonalds drivethru right behind me. I just drove normal with him behind me until a passing lane came and punched it to pass the slow mover in front of me. (under the speed limit by 10) He punches it and sticks on my bumper like glue. All I could see in my rearview was his hood. I saw that the road in front of me was clear and stayed on it up to about 110, he stuck to me like I was towing him.

A mile or so ahead, the road widens into two lanes in either direction just past a light and it's a non residential non traffic road. So I changed lanes to let him pull next to me and give him the nod. The light turns and we launched, I heard him spinning his tires some and I just stayed on it shifting at 7900 we raced up to about 95 MPH before the next light came. I had him by 2 car lengths. He pulled up next to me at the light and I rolled down my window to say hello and he procedes to tell me that this was the first time he's ever lost to an 06 SI. He asked what I'd done to the car and I told him, nothing just an intake. He tells me he's got a Jackson Supercharger and re-iterates how he's never lost to an 06 before. We then complimented each other on our cars then drove off as the light changed.

Now, Unless the Jackson kit doesn't make that much power on a 05 SI I'd say either his car isn't running right or he needs to brush up on his driving. More than likely it's his car but he stuck to me like glue earlier so his car is fast maybe it's just not quick. Dunno.

Thoughts?

Nice... Gotta think though, those things came stock with what? 160hp or so? We come stock with "197" So that S/C could have just evened him up with you, OR he was just a bad driver. Nice story though, it's nice to see one finally end with a respectful nod and not some kid talking shit, or whining or whatever.. Good job though!!

I couldnt see a Supercharger adding more than 30-40 hp w/o needing to build up the car in some way. Nice story!

Great post, the JRSC certainly helps the mini-van Si....but it still lacks lsd, and high revs with close ration gears. Sounds like it was a good race, glad to see he was cool about it.

Yeah I was happy to see that he was cool about it too. I figured he'd speed off pissed afterwards. I'm glad I was wrong.

Good post ....I wish more people were like that on the road these days.....I think with SC on the 05 Si....it would be a good race for a 06 Si with simple bolt ons....

Nice story :). I think most EP3 owners realize that even with I/H/E, their cars are seriously underpowered. With just an Si, he was probably making just as much whp as you would stock.

I guess I expected more from a supercharger. Back in the days of working on muscle cars, a supercharger added a lot more. I guess I expect more for $3000. Someone sells a aftermarket turbo / intercooler upgrade kit for $4000 but it adds 250 HP Now that's the kinda power I expect for $3-4K.

I was thinking about supercharging my SI, but I think I'll wait until the turbo kits are perfected for the K20Z3 before I plunk down my $3-4k. Unitl then I have to start pricing the bottle.

+100 , i love superchagers but if it's the same price as a turbo kit....gotta go with the hair dryer. Supercharger adds about 40whp.....not worth $3-4k.

I'd skip the bottle bro, save the $800 for an exhaust and header for your future boost!

The FG is a much better platform to S/C than the EP3. Not that the EP3 was bad. But it was watered down for America. The Euro/JDM EP3 R's were seriously mean on a track. If the EP3 had the same engine as the RSX-S, it's numbers would've looked good as well. But stock they only put out like 130+whp. Seriously suck ass for the badging....

The JRSC race kits I'd expect should put out close to an extra 100hp or so.We should be looking at just under 300whp. Perfect for my daily driver. :)

Yeah, the exhaust, reflash and IMG are going to happen real soon but then I'll have to wait and save some more dough. I'm staying away from the header for now until we get a better variety of choices for our cars.

The bottle makes me nervous even though these engines are beasts and are built solid. If Jackson has a kit that'll do +100 to the wheels then I'm down.

300whp is my goal as well. It's going to take a while to get there but I will.
