SRT-4

I am looking to buy an 06 Si soon.
The one thing I want for my new car is to be able to hang or with some mods spank an SRT-4 and SVT Focus. I just read that the SVT isnt a problem so now I am looking to see if anyone has raced an SRT and if who stock for stock how was it. I know they got more hp but not sure what they put to the wheels.

Thanks
Mark

my bro's srt-4 would kill an SI, but thats cause it has a factory tuned turbo. Just buy your SI, wait for a turbo to come out, and enjoy smokin srt-4's :)

plus i rather have a honda anyday

I would never think of buying a neon and would never give up an honda for one. But I was just trying to get an idea of how bad I would lose. I respect the SRT but I hate them so much. Someday I wont get walked on by them. Someday.

they are 240 engine HP, not to the wheels

i think with an SI if u added a CAI, exhaust, manifold gasket, reflash, and anything else out lol, it would be a drivers race.

stock vs stock you wouldnt loose that bad

Stock to stock, you're probably looking at a loss by at least a car length, perhaps a car length and a half or two. If you're a good driver, of course.

If you were modded and the SRT-4 was stock (which is harder to find than a pimple on a Sumo's ass), you might be able to take em. But I think the 05's got an LSD. That helps them tremendously. You could take an 03 or 04.

And you should be able to take an SVT Focus in stock form. They're nowhere near as their European counterparts. But it's still a driver's race.

Got a lot of friends with SRT-4's... sorry to say.. they are crap, They use to pull up on me in my Evo and think they are the same car as me... no I just roll down my rear windows and smile... they get really pissed off

Alot of SRT-4 drivers FIRST mod is an aftermarket BOV.. that tells you something about them..

Never really looked into the car but I thought they were rated at 215hp.

The new Caliber SRT/4 will have 300HP to the crank (about 270 to the wheels). So yeah, Dodge has gone nuts.

In all fairness, its not really a neon. Sure the SRT-4 is modeled after a neon, and looks very very similar, but it is an SRT-4. I use to work at a Dodge dealership, and if we called it a neon, we could get a fine for it. Just a fun fact.
On topic though...yea, stock for stock you will not beat an SRT-4 in a race. The problem with that is, good luck trying to find a stock SRT-4 that will actually race you. (Around here at least) Everyone that owns one that is willing to race has some sor tof mod done. Given that, they respond really well to mods. If you are fortunate enough to find a stock one to race, you will need at least I/RH/E to have a chance...but it will still be close. Get a reflash, and it will be just that much closer. It will more than likely be a drivers race.

Don't SRT-4's run around high 13's bone stock? Know a kid who has one who just custom made a CAI for it and was running mid 13's with ease. I was pretty sure all he had was his home made CAI for it.

so yea, you would get your ass handed to you but think of it this way.

Even if you drive an srt-4 and run 13's stock... at the finish line your still stepping out of a Neon.

That's just the Dodge dealership brainwashing you.

An SRT-4 is still a Neon. Just as an Si is still a Civic. Same frame, same body. Different engine.

But, none of us own one, so who cares? Let's let the SRT-4 owners debate.

Two things. There's an Si on fgcoupe running a 13.9 N/A on stock all seasons. So yeah, it's possible to make it a driver's race if you're modded.

Second, an SRT-4 is NOT a Neon. Believe me when I say that. It may look like one but just like the Civic Si is something more than "just a Civic", or a GTI is more than "just a Golf". Or *ahem* a Rabbit....

i bet that cold air intake made a big difference when the air was compressed by the turbo.......................:gaygiggle

see that's what i was thinking/didn't understand. It was an srt 4. then he showed me some pipe that was where foglights should be. perhaps it was something else? I just assumed it was a CAI.

next time an srt-4 wants to race you, just look at your interior and smile -

this interior looks like my dad's 95 stratus:
