Wow, this DIY is incredible. I didn't have a Pioneer, I had a Kenwood DNX7120 to install and even though they are different radios this guide was a tremendous help. The wiring between Pioneer and Kenwood are almost identical, and the pictures were a great help. Only difference I noted, for my system the MUTE wire I left unconnected. I believe if it were grounded it would mute all audio output.

And I found a great place to put the GPS antenna. I've noticed that antenna placement varies between you guys, but I stuck it with double-sided pressure tape to the top of the tachometer area, right below the dash cover. No wires showing and the signal is excellent.

Really? That is the only thing keeping me from doing the install myself is that i'm not sure where how i can install the antenna. Don't really want to take the trim panel apart to install it on the exterior antenna.

Are there any issues connecting to stock amp to aftermarket navi unit? Did know if you needed some type of filter or relay.

Wow, this looks awesome. I do you need a special cable to connect the iPod to the radio or does the iPod connect directly to the USB port?

most headunits need another unit or cable for the ipod.. if ur headunit is usb compatible then most likely u could hook up ur ipod that way

Angry

i followed these directions and adapted them for the installation of a pioneer deh-p6000ub head unit. joon joon helped me out by putting together the metra harness with the amp integration rcas and the pac unit - the rest was up to me.

i've spent most of the day working on getting the unit installed. sadly i have discovered that i can't get the head unit to turn on - regardless of whether the car is in i, ii, or iii or is on and running.

i have checked my soldering and it looks good. i have red to red, orange to orange, and yellow to yellow from the pioneer harness to the factory harness. the ground wires are in an appropriate place. i tapped into the pink wire on the smaller factory harness and attached the pac unit's white wire from the pac unit to this. i tapped into the brown wire on the smaller factory harness and attached the pac unit's black wire to this. tapped into to the light blue wire on the smaller factory harness is the blue wire off my antenna adapter as well as the blue and white wire (formerly labeled system remote control) from the pioneer harness.

why would the head unit not be turning on? this is causing me a great deal of distress.

thanks!

soldered then taped.

here's my photos - not sure how helpful they are. i disconnected the two grounds so that it was easier to see - i had grounded it in the same place as the original poster.

and i just realized i wrote "factory harness" - in reality those wires are coming from the metra harness which of course is connected to the factory harness.

the one that was the hardest to solder well was when i was tapped into the blue wires since i had 4 wires to work with but it seemed good in the end. i first double-checked the red wire (as i figured this would be the one that could cause the problem) and it was rock solid. i guess i could peel off the tape and check the others but i thought they were all good.

not sure what you mean by turning it on with src?
