Yes. I actually left my stock sub plugged in when I got my aftermarket 12" subs going =). I finally decided to unplug it from the rear when I realized my new head units power my overpower the sub and blow it out. Also it doesn't sound right when you got aftermarket subs and the stock sub running.

Great DIY. I completed this over the weekend. I would change the ground step, you could ground all the wires for the video bypass on the black wire on the Metra harness that goes back into the car and it will still work. Solder the wires of course. Other than that this DIY is flawless!

Tomorrow I'm going to bypass the factory amp and install a 4 channel MTX TE404 amp. Amp rated at 71W RMS at 4ohms :-D

Nah, I have a MTX 12" Sledgehammer and a MTX TA3401 sitting in my basement.

Just finished installing the 4channel amp with the Metra amp bypass. In the sedan it's located under the driver's seat and the panel just pops off easily (no need to unbolt the seat. I ran the by pass under the carpet and fed it through the crevasse of the back seat. Equalizing in the D3 is so easy with the visual EQ and staging! Definitely recommend upgrading to a 4channel amp!

Amazing DIY. Just did this install today. Everything went well. The only thing is that when i turn on and off the car I'm getting a popping noise from the amp and d3 turning on or off at the same time. I've read that you can add some resistors to the power wire and balance out the voltage, but i have no idea which ones to use. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I have the D3 in my 06 Civic LX Sedan and I love it. It was pretty easy to install especially witht he wiring harness. I placed the Nav antenna on the tube right behind and above the hu. I did the mos as well. Looking for the blue tooth adapter and maybe the rear camera. I also changed the background pics on the Nav to some custom Honda pics. I will post some if you want to use them. Let me know if need the "how to".
Here are some pics of the finished product.

just wondering i havent read through all 6 pages so if its already asked yell at me for being a noob but since i have no volume controls on my steering wheel is it just a matter of getting the harness plugging one end into the harness for the car and the other to the avic d3? and no sodering/splitting stuff?

If you the LX model like I do you don't need the steering wheel control harness. Just get the radio harness and the antenna harness and you're done. If you want the bypass you'll have to splice the ground cable and connect the mute and the parking brake brake cables to the radio ground cable.

Here are some pics from my install. I have the Honda oem dash piece and the pioneer trim piece I got didn't fit so I had to order the scosche one which is waht you see. I took a picture of where i routed my blue tooth microphone because i haven't seen any on here. It's pretty functional where it is. I haven't decided whether I'll keep it there or not. It looks pretty clean but if I find some tutorials how to mount it by the sunroof controls I might end up doing that. I didn't have much time and didn't want to mess with routing it up there. I have never touched the inside of a car before and know very little about car audio or electronics. I'm really glad everything turned out as well as it did. It took awhile...about 7 hours, but I learned a ton in the process and could probably do it much faster now...

i had to buy the trim piece from scosche unfortunately.... it cost $23 shipped.... for just that piece of crappy plastic... oh well, it looks a TON better with it, pretty much factory. I have read on here about people getting them for free from scosche, but none such luck for me.

I bought the deck with the OEM dash piece, bluetooth, ipod wire, metra harness, and antenna adapter on here for $650. It has NAV but it is on a DVD which kind of sucks. I don't travel too much so i probably won't ever have to use it. Overall I am completely happy with the unit, it plays tons of formats, has lots of features, sounds great and looks great. I also Had to buy the PAC controls for the steering wheel which was about $40 or so. I ended up buying an extra metra adapter and antenna adapter so if you end up getting one PM me and i will sell it to you for cheap.
