Just buy the metra 70-1722 and the scoche HAAB antenna adapter
So you didn't use the ha10b that you show in the picture, you used a metra? I'm assuming this since you did the RCA connections into the d3.

Sorry if i'm making this confusing, i just want to make sure i buy what i need

wait, so you have to tap the Pac-PS module for the steering wheel controls to the oem honda harness? Is there a way not to mess with the OEM honda harness? How do you install the tweeter

Gotta a question for jepetto....I am looking at getting the avic-f700bt instead of the D3 and was wondering if you think the install would be the same. Here is a picture of the back of the F700:

I still see a black and white connector, i just cant tell if the plugs are the same size and figured you may have a better idea. Thanks!

for some reason i just edit my damn post so i am forced to make another one. i found a picture of the back of the d3 for comparison sake. It looks fairly similar so do you think it would be the same install? The only thing i am concerned about is the PAC controller and moving the mute wire for bypass. Any idea if these would be different?

Here is what I found on avic411 on how to bypass:

From WIRE SIDE of small white plug
Mute wire (YEL/BLK) is in upper row, left pin
Move this wire to lower row, 4th pin from the left (empty pin between 2 black wires)
the pin directly below the mute wire does not work
Ground YEL/BLK & LT GRN and you're good to go

I dont see why the PAC unit wouldnt work, but you may want to double check.

Where exactly is this placed? It looks like its behind the glove box? Does it actually get good reception there? I thought it had to be outside the car or looking through a window...

Make sure you are connecting your ACC connection to this blue/gray stripped wire. The purple wire is running back to the ACC connection.

This is right behind the radio in the dash. Some people get good reception there. I did not however and had to move it behind the fog light switch. The best spot is going to be on your roof but this is not the cleanest. I recommend turning the head unit on and going to the connection status menu and moving your antenna into various spots until you find a good signal/location.

You can connect it above the unit itself since the gps antenna is magnetic

Call me confused, but why does the mute wire get moved? I know it's for the bypass, but we're already grounding the parking cable wire. What purpose does moving the mute wire serve?

Nevermind. I found out that it's to keep it from detecting how fast you're going. The brake bypass will only fix it for when you're going under 15mph or so, but unless you do the mute switch it will cut off after that.

Why isn't there an edit feature on this forum? :P

As someone on avic411.com said: "you need the mute wire to complete the bypass... the parking brake only makes the unit think the brake is up to unlock it...the mute wire stops it from knowing your in motion. so if you didnt ground the mute wire (obviously after moving it to its correct spot) then it would be unlocked and as soon as u started moving your unit would say "hey wait a minute!!" and lock you out."

How's that PAC controller working for you? I'm looking to do the same install (if I can't find the Honda factory GPS), and heard differing opinions on the PAC...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Your experience? Or anyone elses?

Ok, I have an '08 LX Coupe with the basic OEM radio currently. I just ordered up an AVIC-D3 to replace it (haven't gotten it in yet).

As far as I know, the LX with the basic radio does not have an external amp, and I know it doesn't have the steering wheel controls. What do I need to change/ignore in the first post for my car?

And since there is no external amp, does it matter which of the wiring harnesses I get (the Metra or the Scosche)? If it doesn't, I'll just find someone who sells the whole Scosche "kit" all together and use all of that.
