i think i understand all the wiring now for the most part after studying the wiring diagram. The only thing I am confused about is the steering wheel adapter. You say it only needs 3 wires but there are a ton coming out of the thing. Also, in the wiring diagram it only shows those 3 wires being connected as well. So whats with the big white adapter plugged into the steering wheel box?

Edit: A few more questions.

1. In your description you say to hook the black wire of the PAC to the brown wire of the honda 20 pin, but in the wiring diagram it also shows the black wire being split off and spliced into the ground wire on the black D3 plug. Is this necessary or does the black wire just need to go to the brown wire?

2. you say to connect the mute connection (yellow) and the parking brake connection (green) to ground, but in the wiring diagram it also shows to connect the ground of the metra adapter to the ground of the black D3 connector...is this necessary or did you just ground the metra black wire seperately?

This unit is a universal control. Some cars not only have audio controls on the steering wheel, they can have temp controls, mute, and both scan and preset. You can cut these connections as they are not needed. Do not cut the looped wires though. I left mine in case I decided to sell the system.

Since you are only controlling one main system, there is only one connection needed. The red and black wires power the PAC system.
The White wire is receiving inputs similar to Morse code.
Ex. If the receiving unit (PAC) receives a 1010 that may mean to turn the volume up one level, or if the receiving unit receives a 1011 that may mean to turn the volume down one level. Each button has its own unique pattern that it sends out. You can program your controls anyway you want. You can have your Track up and Down change the volume. The PAC unit doesn't care. This also explains the delay. Your signal must first be decoded by the PAC, then another signal is sent to the Head Unit.

Yes it is necessary. The brown wire is currently floating. A floating wire can pick up voltage around it. Your PAC is receiving 1's and 0's. Weather it receives a 1 or 0 is dependent on the voltage that it determines represents a 1 or 0.
Ex. If you have a 3 volt systems the unit may see any voltage that comes in that is above 1 volt is a 1 and any voltage that is less than 0.3 volts is a 0. If your ground is not exactly 0, your PAC may see all 1's coming in.

Also I like to have one center ground point as not all grounds are the same.

Yes, this is necessary also. I connected all my grounds connections at the same point.

I hope this helps.

So in other words, every ground cable doesnt necassirly have to be tied together and then grounded, but each black ground wire should be grounded at the same ground point?

I'm hoping this is my last question.....but in the picture your steering wheel adapter model number is PESWIPS, but i thought the adapter was supposed to be PAC SWI-PS. Are these the same thing? I'm looking on ebay and all i find are these. Is this what i'm looking for?

I believe mine is just an older unit. I purchased it at circuit city. Here is a list of all the different models and what vehicles they work with: Products
I think you will be fine with that one.

For some reason it won't let me edit my post but a quick question the wiring harness. Is this the antenna adapter that I need? It looks different from the one you have but it's the same part number. Is the other adapter you have shown in the picture with the trim ring the same as the metra adapter, just made my scosche?

The $9 Radio shack soldering iron works just fine. I find the hotter the iron the easier to use. Just whatever fits in your budget.

yes, that is the antenna adapter. No, the adapter that comes with the scosche kit is for the amp bypass.

According to the same seller you bought it from it doesn't come with any adapters. He says you can add on the HA10B and HAAB adapters and he will combine shipping. I need to buy those two adapters along with the metra?

Yea, I was susprised to get them. They were in the box with the rest of the kit even though I didnt ask for them. You only need the HAAB adapter. You will have to buy the metra somewhere else. I purchased mine at a local audio store.

And according to your wiring diagram the metra 70-1722 is what the RCA's get soldered to and the remaining wires on the metra get hooked to the D3 black plug. So all in all you have listed in the wiring diagram a metra 70-1722, an antenna adapter, D3 white plug, and a D3 black plug. I don't see a seperate adapter for just the amp integration.

Metra plugs into the honda wiring harness which is already connected to the amp.

Right, so the metra would take the place of the scosche ha10b that you used correct? So all the only adapters i would need to purchase would be the:

-metra 70-1722 or scosche ha10b
-scosche HAAB antenna adapter

Every other adapter needed comes with the d3 itself

No

Metra 70-1722 = amp integration
Scosche ha10b = amp bypass

Just buy the metra 70-1722 and the scoche HAAB antenna adapter

The white and black connector and navi antenna come with the d3. You will also have to buy the IPOD cable separately
